twist for .308

Putting together a .308 for paper, steel, and hunting. Primarily planning on 150s, but would like to be able to shoot 180s if the mood strikes me. Will I loose any accuracy with 150s by using an 11 twist barrel so I can occasionally shoot 180s? Barrel will be 22".

Thanks,

John

Have you checked out the .308 Win article? Great stuff there!

I don't think you'll lose much, if any accuracy with the 1:11 twist barrel. Used to believe that my 1:13 twist Kriegers were the ticket to maximum accuracy with 155 grain .308 bullets... But there's been some mighty fine shooting done with 155 grain Bergers from a 1:10 twist barrel...

I've had no problem shooting bullets from 110 - 190 grains from a standard 1:12 twist either. Excellent accuracy across the whole weight range. The .308 seems pretty tolerant of different twist rates.
