Turn Then Fire Form or Fire Form Then Turn?

I’m relatively new so please be patient with this question.

should I turn necks prior-to (new brass) or after fire forming?

Please advise.

Thanks!

Looks by the pic that you are fire forming 6BR cases to make a Dasher. That being said you should trim necks before fire forming. For a Dasher though you should only be trimming.250 below the case mouth. I’m assuming that all of you cases have been trimmed to the same OAL. At .250 you will create a ( lip ) on the inside of your case just beyond the neck shoulder junction. OAL is important to keep this transition at the same spot in every case.

Yep BRX and here is some hydoformed cases for you also. All trimmed to length 1st then neck turned on 6BR brass to shoulder then hydroformed

Neat question. I have done it both ways with 6ppc. With the .262 I turned first. I have been testing fireforming first with the new .268 reamer.

Not being sarcastic here, but I hate turning necks. In my case this is a third option, FF in a Lapua no-turn neck chamber, quick and easy. I’m sure that the correctly configured and prepared case will perform to excellent standards, in my games it’s not needed.

Dusty,
I used about every method I can think of to ff brx, dasher and brdx but I never have used 22 bullets what is your exact method? Thanks in advance.

Well you take a 220 russian and load a 22cal bullet in it then fire it. On a dasher and brx i use the false shoulder method with a light 6mm bullet
