Tuners

When my fun money account recovers I'm going to have Mike put one of his tuners on my rifle. Mike knows his stuff that's for sure.

I have 3 PDT (Particle Dampening Technology) tuners that Mike Ezell makes. They are so easy to use a child could do it and it works. I wouldn't go to the line without one.

Can you guys tell me who's tuner that you use and why you like it or dislike it?

The tuner designs I like best are the ones that do not abruptly effect accuracy from best to worse settings. Tuner's that effect accuracy abruptly from bad to best settings can mystify results in my experience, that make the better settings appear titillatingly better, but in actuality are superficial gains. To date I have been impressed with the Ezell PDT tuner the best, and have been the least impressed with the tuner-brake designs.

I have seen some tuners that would throw a shot off paper at 100yds while adjusting. Lots of designs out there very few work. Do a search on benchrest.com to see the ones that people win with

We have tested many I never have seen one that didn't work. Many designs made don't let you adjust at the range when conditions change.
Without having ability to adjust your tune with confidence at the range why have one.

I use the RAS tuner with or without the brake . I also tune off the point of aim . I find a tune above the point of aim works better in a head wind. It seems to have less vertical with a 8 T both at 600 and 1000. 7.5 likes the lower . Their is really isn't any secret what a tuner does . It lets you adjust vertical and horizontal to a vibration area that is the same
Point as the bullet leaves the barrel. That is no different when tuning a load.
But with a tuner if you have a load that shots with low Es . You can adjust the exit area of the bullet to the same area. That is what Rim fire has done for years .
With pratice and records with a tuner that is easy to use . It can be adjusted at the range for both vertical and horizontal bullet location. How many of times have you gone to the range and find the load you worked so hard isn't working. With our tuner a very very small movement and your back in tune.
The lower the Es you have the better tune
Same as in Rim fire. Any tuner will give you a 50 percent reduction in group size.
And a perfect tune it can only make a increase in group size.
Normally 16 shots with a dasher and my load I can make a 1/4 "or less tune . Larry

Thanks guys for all the info. I'm just trying to decide if I want to try one or not. From what you guys have said and some people that I have talked to it sounds like I might need to try one.
Thanks

I've got 3 Ezells' and all I can say is they're so easy that even a cave man can use them.. You'll find out it's very easy to tune and KEEP in tune with them........Harv

Tuners can definitely save your tail if you pre load for matches and travel. I use an Ezell tuner and really like it a lot. Easy to use and with the markings on it, very repeatable. I kinda look at it with the attitude that you either use a tuner or get beat by someone that does.
