Tucson area ranges?

We are considering a move to Arizona and the Tucson area is looking better and better-is there anyone who is in the Tucson area or more specifically Oro Valley who could shed some light on the situation for a shooter? Formal ranges? Gun clubs? Open range land/BLM land that is open and not too far away?

Any thoughts are welcome.
Thank you,
Gary

I'm in northern AZ. Not sure about being able to post a link to another forum, so I will PM you the link with additional info. Most all national forests here are open for shooting unless closed because of fire danger, which happens at least once a year, often more times.

Close to Oro Valley is the Pima Pistol Club, they have a 100yd and 200yd rifle range along with pistol ranges.

In 3 Points there's the Tucson Rifle Club, it has multiple ranges out to 1000yds.

There’s also a large section of BLM land on Park Link near mile marker 6 that has a large designated area for recreational shooting.

$125 to join for a year if you are a NRA member or $20 per day.

Go on @Desertsharpshooters.com website , and click on Clubs / Ranges . Three Points Range is just west of Tucson . There will be a map , and other contact info . Three Points is run under the same banner as Ben Avery . Part of Arizona Fish & Game .

On I-8 west of I-10 on the south side is pinal county public range. Have to bring all ur own gear. Only thing there is a bench. Bunch of lefty's down in Tucson.

Any Pro - Gun ; Pro-conservative , PRO - TRUMP'er is more than welcome in Arizona . We need some way to counter the Organized Dem movement of liberals here for the last five years . The anti-gun movement is working overtime to change Arizona . Their own public statements / claim was , "When Arizona falls , we'll own the country , and change every gun law" . So every vote does count , or we wouldn't have to Chuck-you Schumer "Lap-dogs" for Senators now . Just don't come here and start that , "Wish it was more like back home" garbage . If "Back home" was so freakin great , why did you leave in the first place ?

Pima County has a couple of ranges open over the weekend. Details here:

Tucson Mountain Park is very nice. Pistol and Rifles from 5-100 yards

Tucson Rifle Club is based at 3 points public shooting range and has a High Power Rifle range out to 1000 yards. Details here: http://www.tucsonrifleclub.org/

Search Google for Tucson Shooting Ranges and you will get the full list of what is available.

Highpower schmipower. They shoot NBRSA 1000 yd BR once a month at Three Points. I think the also have a center fire metallic silhouette range.

Not negative. Fact, population growth = less freedom for everybody. If you put two rats in a cardboard box they will both find a corner and leave each other alone, if you put ten rats in the same box they will eat each other. I live in north OV, been in the area 40 years, I raised the money and built the 100 yard range at Pima pistol club, three minutes from my house, I do not shoot there any more. The County Range on south Houghton Rd is a nice range, but is set up incorrectly, you are shooting due west. Furthermore the majority of the management is old retired volunteer zealous hall monitor types, exasperating to deal with the BS, them demanding to see the tax stamps for our suppressors that has nothing to due with range safety and is none of there business. The three points range is a drive, you better make sure the part of the range you want to use is open to the public before you drive there, could be closed for LEO training ect. next to impossible to use the 1000 yard range. There are hundred's of thousands acres of public land/ quasi public land with in 10 min of north Oro Valley, that is where I shoot, avoid the weekends and carry a sidearm. If you are a competitive match shooter in any discipline the Phoenix area is light year ahead of Tucson. As for vetting folks moving here and welcoming with open arms, I am a little chill . Just cause someone is friendly on a reloading forum does not cut it for me. I know a custom rifle builder who votes for my enemies every election (his wife is anti gun), I know trap a shooter that does not think anyone should own a handgun, and a Benchrest shooter that thinks AR 15's should be outlawed. In case you were wondering I am pissed most days cause I can not buy a machine gun at Ace harware no questions asked.

Jtate, I fully understand your position,so no harm, no foul. DJT gots lots of my money in '16 and '20.
the policies and politics of Va. & even the 60 miles out from DC where I have been for nearly 50 years - the left has taken over with a vengeance .
I have spent a good bit of time in Cave Creek to Wickenburg and enjoy the people but the prices have chased me south-word is Cali is flooding the zone and bringing the failed Cali policies with them-so sad.

Admin--if this violates policy please delete and I apologize .

Hang in there Gary. From one Gary to another, I'm coming too and bringing my guns and second amendment rights with me. Love the state, and all the Conservatives that live there.

Not think, we do have a silhouette ranges, rifle and pistol. There is also a monthly score shoot run from fall to spring.
