Tucker Conversion

The Tucker conversion is a third spring added on the diagonal corner of the scope turret to apply additional pressure to the erector tube inside the scope...It was developed by Gunsmith Tucker of Odessa, Texas to reduce potential shift in the Point of Impact..due to weak or inefficient factory flat springs. The scope has a hole drilled into the turret housing at a diagonal opposite of the Windage and Elevation knobs..A sealed spring housing is added externally and a heavy coil spring is added inside the housing to put pressure on the erector tube, repeating myself)...Cost of the conversion was about $190..

If you are sure that your scope has a problem with P.O.I. shifting causing unexplained poor groops then YES..
It will NOT make all scopes more accurate..I had a Bausch&Lomb 36x on my BR rifle, I wanted more accuracy, so I got a new Weaver T36 with no improvement, I then decided to get a Leupold 36x, no improvement, so I had a Tucker conversion done on the Leupold...Results NO improvement..!
My rifle limitations are in the shooter and components...I sure went the long way around to find out...I also have a friend that bought a frozen leupold 36x...Yep you guessed it no gain in accuracy...Save your money for a new barrel, bullets and powder...Or some good wind flags if your Rifle is fresh...
I think the locking or freezing of scopes is in many cases a solution to a non-exsistant problem...IMO

I am using a US optics scope, fine crosshairs 17x) right now for 100 yards load developing,.308), but I would like get a scope for F-class. What should I get?

I like NF also, but my choice for F-Class would be the BR model because of the 1/8 MOA adjustments as opposed to the 1/4MOA adjustments found on the NXS. The finer adjustments sure are nice to have at the 1000 yard range with the new F-Class target.

Either the 8-32 or the 12-42 models will suit you well.

Tucker was doing his conversions long before there was any such thing as a Nightfarce scope on the market. Leupold scopes are notorious for poor tracking. Move a turret and hope the scope changes. This is probably the number one cause of returns for Leupold scopes.

Nightfarce just did a copy of what Tucker had been doing for years. I would not own a Leupold 36, 45X scope without the Tucker conversion.

If weight is of no concern, then Nightfarce is the scope for you.

I have an unusual circumstance that may or may not benefit from his work. I am gonna be putting a couple Siebert long eye relief conversions on some heavy-kicking long-range handguns. These are a 36X BR D seies scope and a 24X std. BR scope. Does anyone know if this addtl. spring will help the scope hold up to some recoil abuse?

Does anyone know his contact info?

Cecil Tucker, a gunsmith in Odessa, TX. Don't think he has a web site. I would have to search a while to find his phone number. Do a look up for it.
