Tube gun for FTR

This year was my first year shooting FTR and I really enjoyed it. I learned a ton and feel like I'm ready to move from my semi-custom Savage to, possibly a full custom rifle. One thing I have considered is moving to an Eliseo tube gun stock and bipod system on whatever my next rifle is. I know that these are very popular on the sling side of the house, but I was wondering if guys were successfully using these in FTR as well. This may end up being a dual roll, sling and FTR rifle, as I have been dabbling in the sling shooting stuff lately, too. Anyone with firsthand knowledge of using a tube gun for FTR, please let me know what your thoughts are.

A friend of mine here built one and shot very well with it in FTR with the Eliseo bipod......He won the Texas midrange championship last year with it......Very nice accurate rifle.

I have a Elesio S1 with a 6mmBRX barrel, and 308 barrel, Rear entry wrench and barrel vice, tub of grease and you can switch them back in forth all day.

I am getting ready to switch from a Savage to a Defiance Mutant in an Eliseo chassis and will be using a SEB Joypod with it. I havent shot the new gun yet, so I don't have many thoughts on using the Eliseo for F-TR yet.

One thing to consider is, the standard tube on the Eliseo might be a little short to hang a Bi-pod from, not that it can't be done, but with a long barrel, I think it might be front heavy. I would think the longer "Tactical" or "F-Class" tube would work better for a bipod. I don't know how the longer tube would fare when shooting from a sling situation.

I am a "seasoned" shooter, And the adjustability of my Eliseo RTM is great for for my aging systems of muscles, bones and nervous system. Mine is a switch barrel, which allows me to compete in FTR and F-open.

The Eliseo chassis provides, I think, a very useful feature. The forend tube can be rotated so that the handstop can be fit to you. Not you fitting the rifle. I'd give Gary a call, or better yet an email. He has always been quick to reply.

I sent him an email tonight to ask if Remington clone actions with a side bolt release will fit in his RTS stock, and to see if I could get the RTS with the longer F-class forend.

I did precisely what you are talking about doing. Shot it in FTR and Palma as well. Hard to beat the adjustability of a eliseo tube gun! Mine was a R1 in 308 and also had a 6BR barrel for midrange

A side bolt release will not work. I have a RTS with a pierce tube gun action and multiple barrels. I built the gun for FTR and could not be happier.

Gary told me that I can use an action with a side bolt release in one of his chassis if I remove the side bolt release. He said that there is an internal bolt stop build into his chassis.

Sort for the wrong info. I should have worded it better, the buttstock is your bolt stop.

Those of you who have used the Elesio bipod for FTR, how do you like it?

Gary's design is excellent. Use the "blade" feet with the right rug pile and it will track like rails. The fact that its pivot is coincident with the bore axis makes cant adjustments seem natural. Use it with the extended fore end.
