Tubb final finish ammo

Does anyone have an opinion about this? I was thinking that since no one makes a good bore guide for the Encore and I like to break-in my barrels this might be a better way to go to avoid cleaning damage to the barrel. For those that don't know what this is they are loaded rounds of ammo that have diffrent grades of polishing compound on the bullets to esentially fire lap the barrel. I thought with this stuff I might get by with shooting 20 rounds during break-in instead of 100. The barrel is a .243 factory tube. Any thoughts?

No experience with the Tubb but have you tried Lucas for the bore guides? He will make almost anything, excuse me if i am speaking out of turn). Another product similar to the Tubb is from the same group that makes the software "quickload" the web site eludes me at the moment.

I use Lucas bore guides for my Savages, but I don't think that he can make one for the Encore, but it can't hurt to ask, he makes very nice stuff.

I am very hesitant about putting abrasives through a barrel.
Why not go to Sinclair International and buy one of his Encore bore guides for $8.90. When I shot an Encore,7-08) I used one and was pleased with the quality and chamber fit.

I and several friends have had excellent results using Tubb Final Finish both as hand loaded bullets and as the preloaded ammunition. For new factory barrels only the three finest grits are needed to prep a barrel,in place of old style break in methods). The two coarse grits are only needed for a neglected and/or badly fouled barrel, after cleaning to remove corrosion).

We are also finding the Tubb TMS bullets and rounds, finest grit) to be very use full in keeping the throat and lead, from throat to lands) much cleaner when use about 1 every 100 rounds for "hot" loads and 1 every 200 rounds for more typical loads. This has been found to be particularly good for varmint shooters that have a tendency to shoot fast and frequent creating more than normal throat heat checking and lead erosion.

I personally do not advocate using Final Finish bullets in high quality hand lapped custom barrels. I have however successfully extended the use of such a barrel that was showing throat checking and lead erosion by using TMS bullets hand loaded over a minimum charge and seated for about 0.020 jump. Used 1 in every 100 rounds, the accuracy was partially restored and preserved for another 800 rounds, until throat erosion reached an impractical seating depth).
