Trying to find a 243 75gr V-Max load using StaBall or IMR 4166

I have been able to finally grab some powder. Not my first choices to begin building a new load since I had been using Varget but these powders were available. I have the load data from Hodgdon but would like any input from those who have already tried either of these powders.

Based on Hodgdon load data alone either powder appears to be a good selection. However load tables never tell you "the rest of the story" like real life experience with these powders. Any specific information would be very helpful. I am looking for news about any quirks noticed or things to look for from the experience of others.

I will post back all of my information as I build out loads for these two powders too.

4064 is my favorite with 243 and the weight class bullet you're planning to load. That said, 4166 isn't too far off 4064 or Varget so I expect you'll be pleased with the results.

4166 is my go-to powder for under 1k with Scenars in the 308. It is a fantastic powder, supremely temperature stable and very minimal copper fouling.

I believe you can proceed with confidence. Do know that I've found 4166 to be more bulky than both 4064 and Varget, so depending on how the load works out for you, you might be crunching a few kernels when seating the projectiles.

Thank you for this information. Exactly what I was hoping to get from members with some experience with these powders.
