Trying to find 9mm parts for RCBS Pro2000 press.

I'm using my RCBS Pro2000 for reloading 38 and 45. I'd like to start loading 9mm ammo too.

Do any of you know where I can buy a 9mm 5-station shell plate for this press?

Until then, I'll use my A1 Big Max, but I'd like to be able to load 9mm on the Pro2000.

I'd like to buy an additional die holder plate as well - I had one on order, but that's now delayed.

EBay has a couple, but they're asking $150 for them. They seem to have been about $30 retail.

You want #16, in case you didn't have that already.

Thanks - I found one person who said he had one, but while Google said it was a #16, when I wrote him he said it was a #18. He doesn't have one, but if he did, it would be $100. By the time I find one it will probably be $150 like you said. Ain't no way I'm going to pay $100 or more for a $30 part. I'll load for now on my single station RCBS A1 Big Max.

If I was going to spend $150 or so, instead of parts for my Pro2000 I would but a new Hornady press. I like it a lot, but not the primer tube.

Thanks for the advice, and no, a few days ago I didn't know it was a #16.

I want to get into loading 9mm, not that many, and I'm not so desperate I'm going to spend over a hundred $$ for simple parts that should be $30 or so, and will be again if RCBS catches up with their back orders.

Thank you!!!

(I watched the video on the Hornady "Lock-n-load" press" (I think that's the name) and other than for the primer tube which I don't want, I'm very impressed.)

Well, that's what I use to load pistol ammo (I shoot 32SWL, 38 Special and 45ACP.) I've had very little trouble with the press over the course of 6 years. The only problems I've had with the priming system on the press was my own doing (try not to put small primers in when using the large tube and seat plug. It doesn't work very well.)

I did spring for a bunch of extra lockrings, and an extra base for the auto powder measure. One base for 45ACP and 32SWL (coincidentally the same length case), and one for 38 means I swap that out without having to adjust anything else. Separate rotor inserts for the measure for each caliber; they get stored with the dies. Caliber change takes just a few minutes.

Rifle ammo gets loaded on a single stage press (for bulk 308), or an arbor press (precision 308 and 6BR.)

Hey Mike! I bought that press last summer. The seller called me a few days later and said he found a box of parts for it so we met up and he gave me the box. It had maybe 20 shell plates in it. I don’t have the will to load 9mm. If I have it, it’s yours. I’ll go look in a minute. I laid tile all day and I’m pooped!

Update! I went out and looked. Guess what! I have 2 #16s, one is new in the package! I looked at the 18. It’s for the 44 Magnum. I tested the 16 with a 9mm round. It fits. Tell you what.......You become a Silver or Gold contributor and I’ll put it in the mail to you. PM me your address, of course!

Hey, great!!!!! I'd very much like to get the one for 9mm, and I'd also like 380ACP if it even exists. I have 44, 38 Special, and 45 ACP. Let me know how much you want for it, and add on what shipping will cost you. It's the #16 5-station shell plate.

I love the Pro2000. It is so easy to use and maintain, and if anything goes wrong, RCBS sends a replacement. I bought the auto-index kit later. I mostly do 45ACP and 38 Special, but I need to start doing some 44 Special. I've collected several spare parts over the years, so if you need something and RCBS isn't back in action, send me a message. My email is mjm at sgrid dot com.

Mike: reread my last post. I added to it. Isn’t the 380 just a short 9mm? If so, the 16 will work.

Fantastic!

OK, first I'll figure out to send you a PM.
Then I need to figure out how to become a contributor.

Give me a couple of minutes here.....

I’ll look again and see if I have a spare #18 for the 44.
No hurry here. It’s yours.!! Relax!

Hey! I got your PM! Good job!
I looked for a spare 18. No joy, I only have one.

OK, I guess you already got my PM, and I did the sign-up for PayPal via credit card.

I don't think I need the plate for the 44 - I bought one long, long ago. I've never used it yet. I will dig it out, and test it with a shell.

If you don't already have them, call RCBS and have them send you the plastic "thingies" that guide the primer holder strips through the press. Eventually they get worn, and you might as well have some lying around. Also, there is a huge aluminum beefy looking part on the press - those occasionally break according to the people in the Pro2000 forums. Have them send you one just for a spare. Oh, and if you "spill" powder when you advance to the next station, RCBS has some new light weight balls and springs the gently allow the press to advance - no more powder spills. I'll need to find my notes to figure what else I suggest you get spares for.

Amazing.

Do you by chance have extra die holder plates? I have two, and I thought I had a third, but I'd like to get another for 9mm. I ordered one from Adorama, and they said it was in stock, but then they wrote back that they don't have any. I need to check if I actually do have a third plate - it was going to be for 44, but I haven't yet gotten around do setting up for that. As a matter of fact, that's the gun I'm taking to the range tomorrow, but it will be the first time in decades since I last shot it!

Hi Mike: I only got two of the aluminum plates with the press. I’ll be looking for some more, too. Thanks for the parts suggestions.
Josh

I just checked - I do have the #18 5-station plate for 44. I also found the die holder I was planning to use for 44, and I even found the extra wall bracket I ordered for them. This is all great news - thank you once again!

I'll start another search for the die plates - you probably need another one more than I do. Everybody used to have them, even Amazon.

I had no idea the 380 was the same size as a 9mm. That's good to know - 380 ammo is even harder to find than 9mm.

I avoided loading 9mm until now. It's just too small. Well, maybe not, but it seems that way to me. I don't load that many rounds at a time, maybe 50. I used to shoot 50 rounds at the range, then reload 50 more.

I'll spend some time tomorrow looking over this forum - the more I see, the more impressed I am.

Lots of good people here with knowledge. This is the only shooting site I’m involved in. Try to learn to use the search feature to find info or just ask a question. You’ll get answers! Welcome to the best shooting site on the interweb!
I’ll get the shell holder in the mail in the next few days.
Josh

By the by, measure the bases of the 380 and 9mm. I “think” they are the same?!? Better to check that! I’m getting old!
