trued 700 action or custom with 700 footprint?

I just witnessed a trued remmy 308 take Overall Winner for two 600 yard F classes last weeekend.

Still though...my upcoming build is gonna be a Barnard P action!


PS: if you are going to step out to 600 or further, you are gonna have to tighten up your vertical as much as possible! 1/2 moa at least!

I'm limited to my local ranges being 300. if I somehow get some more to to invest I would love to jump to further. I'd say I have a long way before jumping to 600. never shot beyond 300 unfortunately.

this is part of what I'm trying to decide. I have a rem 700 vtr 308 in a bell n Carlson a5 with jp brake, a savage fcp-k in 223 with xlr chassis and a savage bvss in 223 with 1x7 twist. they all shoot sub moa -.5 at 100 all day long un touched.

I guess that's exactly right. my old sps Tactical in 223 shot good but more around 1 moa. but either way. not bad for factory(lower end 700 models). untouched.

thought is follow up to let u know what I decided. kinda went a different route I. the end but anyways. I decided my 700 rifles shoot well enough for my needs and if I do a build ill start with a custom action with 700 footprint. that Barnard is really nice. thanks. at this point though I decided my money may be better spent on a air arms tx200 pellet gun. superbly accurate and I've have for years now a small range set up in my yard from 25-50 yards. figure ill get more benefit from practicing multiple shooting positions even if only from a pellet gun. plus drop and windage is all exhaggerated. u just don't have time to put into long range custom rifle shooting with a child on the way. thanks to all for your input. definitely brought up some points I didn't even think about.
