Truck Gun Transformation

The first pic below is what I brought home with me. It was a truck gun from Montana, and I was tasked with fixing it up. The condition and cause has been discussed in a previous thread here:

I built a new stock for it, replaced the barrel with a fluted Krieger 12 twist stainless barrel, chambered in 22-250. I haven't shot it yet as the weather has been just crappy, but I believe it will shoot well.

The stock is a laminated Walnut thumbhole of my own design. I set the action back towards the thumbhole so the grip and reach for the trigger is natural.

Actually I am. But the truck is quite different than the one it came out of.

The windows close on the one it's going into.

May I make the suggestion of a Protector Window bag? One for each side of the truck? Elbow on the back of the seat of the passenger side plus window bag makes for some very steady shooting!

Clean the scope lenses with sand paper and next time use scope caps.

Very nice job and you pick a nice piece of wood. I would return it with the stipulation if it begins to look like it did before, you get to hit the owner one time with a 36 inch pipe wrench.

It's his tool, not mine, and how he treats it is his call.

I am not concerned at all that it will see hard use, in fact, just the opposite may happen. He may be afraid to use it as it might get damaged in some way.

He has another of my builds and only takes it out once a year and shoots a couple rounds and puts it away. I really hope this one gets used more than that.

Suggest to your budy that a Ruger American would be better suited living its life in the ranch rig.

Is this a paying customer? If so that is a whole different story. If he is paying for his rifle abuse then its his business.
