trip to the doctor was a real eye opener

I am a diabetic and my GP wants me to have my eyes checked once a year. So today was my day. Two weeks ago I went to the range with friends from church, Wheelgun Wednesday. I hadn't shot a handgun in a long time. My buddy Jim and I were the best shooters but I still thought I shot terrible and I did. Now that the Dr had me look at the chart with my left eye closed I figured out I am almost blind in the right eye. I have cataracts and the left eye is almost as good as new, but the right eye is bad. But he tells me that fixing them now is routine and should get all my vision back. But he knows me and told me that this is not a DIY project, no matter how good a set of chisels I have.

I had mine removed with the ultrasound method. Have the video of the first one done. My understanding is if one waits too long and the cataracts are "mature" or hard, they have to be removed the old fashioned way, mechanically. This sets up more of a possibility of post op problems. Why some people wait is beyond me.

I went the whole route.
I had LASIX when I was 60, they told me at my age, I probably had 8 to 10 good years before my eyes would change and I would have to deal with that then.

A few years ago, (I’m 76 now), my vision started getting really bad. I had a few small cataracts, but they weren’t the real problem My eyes just changed.

So I went to DR Jeff Whitsett in Houston, and had him remove my lenses and installed the new RXSight light adjustable lenses.

All and all, it was around a 50 day process from the initial surgery untill the final adjustment. But I could not be happier. He gave me 20/20 vision with no corrective measures needed.

This might not be for everybody, but for me, it was money well spent.

Get it done if they say youre ready-- you will be amazed--

Had a cataract in my right (aiming) eye removed February 2021. I have had issues with that eye ever since. Won't bore you with the details, but I kind of wish I had waited, or maybe got a second opinion before the surgery. I know of no one who has had the issues I have had so wish you well. Good luck.

Had mine done a few years ago in two separate ops, was amazed at all I'd been missing. In & out in about 90mins, actual surgery was maybe 10mins. Afterward I regretted not having them done sooner.

Donny I seem to remember replacing counter tops at your house after a DIY project, I appreciate your offer, but I think I am going to leave this to the pros.
Cindy actually had a lens put in one eye. She's been a diabetic since mid 20's. I wasn't trying to fix the countertop, I was trying to destroy it during a fit of rage back in my younger days.

I had the lenses implanted about 8 years ago. Before the procedure, I discussed with the doctor that I use a scope for shooting and would like the lenses to allow me to shoot using a scope. Well, the *#^%&* reversed the lenses! As a result, I can shoot with a scope but, it takes every bit of focus the scope has before I get a clear picture. So, make sure the doctor understands what you need.

I had my eyes done a little over a year ago did the right eye first in two weeks later did the left eye cataracts removed multifocal lenses put in discuss with the doc about shooting and he tailored lenses for that. Each eye took about two hours from arrival to out the door. Took about a week in each eye for the vision to really be clear now a little over a year later I have 20/10 in 20/15 vision
And if the Damned allergies would go away, it would be perfect

Well it seems after a talk with the other Dr at the office I am not far enough along with my cataracts to get the insurance to pay for the procedure. So coke bottle glasses are on the way.
