trimming ackley improved cases

I was wondering if there was a formula for the trim to length on Ackley improved cases? 250 sav imp., 6.5-06 imp. are they the same as the parent case? Thanks, RW

I use a Sinclair case length gage ($7) to determine the length of each chamber, and trim no more than .010-.015 shorter.I don't trim until after the first firing, and find most new brass to be shorter than I plan to trim to,in which case I just square up the mouths, and use any short cases for foulers/sighters.

I find on my Ackley cases they always shorten upon fireforming to the point that they are always shorter than the parent case by quite a bit. I measure them up after fireforming, pick out the shortest or close to the shortest and trim to that length. Tom
