Never see any mention of the 21st Century 3 way trimmers for their neck turning lathe.
I would be interested in hearing some feedback.
Thanks..

The Giraud is easy to set up. I like to have a cutter for each bullet size for example 22, 6mm, etc. and a Case Holder for each caliber.
I set the correct trimmer cutting head in place for the case neck diameter, as it comes from the factory. I set the case holder in place and secure it with a Hornady Sure Lok ring with a locking screw. I adjust the case holder to get the cut I want, and lock it in place. Now when I remove the case holder with lock ring and the cutter, I can replace them to the exact same cut length because the lock ring is never moved on the case holder.

The 21st Century neck turning lathe is a very nice unit and the design/machining of their 3-way trimmer heads is superb. I bought this unit for neck turning, and the 3-way Trimmer makes it a great tool. The 21st Century lathe is designed for lighter work (turning necks) and smaller batches. It runs smooth like a Singer... slow, steady and consistent I really like the unit, and it is perfect for handling smaller cases.

I needed a trimmer to use during case forming / case conversion. It needed to be a robust unit that could cut away a lot of metal and also be able to be operate it quickly (swapping out cases) while doing large batches of cases. The Henderson unit fit my need since the shoulders on newly formed cases may take several firings before the case dimensions stabilize. For this application, this meant that OAL was the more important baseline for cutting length than the shoulder location, which was in flux.

I bought the Henderson to do heavier duty work cutting down hundreds of cases at a time. It is well built and robust... like use this unit for .
I have the 21st Century power lathe for neck turning, and yes it’s a great tool.
I have just never seen much mentioned about the 3 way trimmer. I ordered a setup for both 7mm and 6mm to give it a try.
I do run large numbers of brass for both the 7 & 6 mm. I guess if I’m not satisfied with processing time I’ll get me a Henderson.
Hoping the 21st 3way trimmers work well.
Thanks..
Wasn’t trying to go-jack the thread and go off topic.

Christian - sorry I had a computer glitch in the middle of writing my reply. Its now edited/corrected above.

This thread is 2 years old so don't worry about hijacking it. As you know from using your 21st Century Lathe, it has slower methodical tempo for running it. It operates best at a modest pace and gives you time to enjoy a coffee or scotch while turning out a small batch of cases. "It is not about speed, but rather perfection." I believe I should get a royalty for 21st Century's new company slogan... maybe a bottle of arbor lube a year :)

The 3-Way cutter head does a very clean job. My one comment is that the chamfer blades are not designed for doing heavy neck length reductions. I learned this while shortening some long necked cases that I had formed. I had to keep a watch for brass cuttings getting built up around the cutters. Not the worst thing, and easily resolved by cutting excessive long necks off closer to final length before running through for chamfering in 3-Way.

This issue should be a non-issue when turning normal length cases.

Thanks, didn’t notice the date on the thread.
I’ll be doing only maintenance trims, chamfering and deburring.
