Trijicon Accupower 5-50x56 MOA

I just bought the Trijicon Accupower 5-50x56 MOA for $1879.00 off AMAZON . But right now they have the MRAD Dot for $1599.00. I'm wondering why the MRAD Dot is a $280 bucks cheaper ? Anyhow I shoot in yards not meters . I already have a couple Mil/Mil scopes, don't need another. I wonder how this glass will compare to my Zeiss V6 5-30x50mm ?

Not to be too much of a nerd, but MILRAD is not an exclusive Metric (SI) measurement. It is a measure of angles and can be used with many systems of measurement. A radian is an angle formed when the length of the radius is imposed on a circle's circumference and then forming an angle with the center. Therefore there are 2 Pi radians in a circle. A milliradian (Mil) is 1/1000th of a radian. If one considers that the radius is the distance to the target, then one should know that at 100 yards (3600 inches) a mil equals 3.6 inches. The reason that one considers it metric is that the SI (metric) system is base 10 and 100 meters (10000 cm) would yield 10 cm per mil. Is that clear as mud? LOL

James is correct, a milliradian has nothing to do with the metric system. It is an angular measurement, nothing more. The main difference you will usually find between MRAD and MOA scopes is the elevation/windage turret adjustments. For example, a 1/8th MOA turret adjustment is noticeably finer than a 0.1 MRAD adjustment. Obviously, not all MOA scopes have 1/8th MOA turrets, but you get the idea. I have no idea why the MOA scope would cost $280 more than the MRAD. Might it have been a before/after Christmas sale thing? Just a guess.

I think the cost is that the MOA is selling much quicker than the MRAD
They have more of the MRAD;s in stock and might want to move them.
Just my 2 cents.
The MRAD has .05 turret, so about 1/6 MOA equal
