Trigger vs Trigger

German Salazar said:
Butch, I don't make anything (except trouble)! I think he missed the comma after my name. Tom Myers makes the triggers.

I posted a colon after your name to signify that the post was directed towards you....instead of boasting to the entire world where I might live. Since it seems we have both punctuation police and people here that have low comprehension....I'll hesitate to post in the future

sully, you're getting a little sensitive in your old age. Get your panties out of a wad. Nobody is jumping your case.

I just bought a new 700 rem action. This new trigger that is on it can and how much can you adjust the pull down.
Who could I send it to ??? I've had lots of the old kind and had them worked and they have done great for years just to shot/hunt with around 1-2 lbs.

Thanks

Jim,
I like it, but shoot the rifle very little. Maybe every 5yrs. Arnold Jewell told me several years ago that the Kidd trigger was very good.

I guess Fred shoots a couple hundred thousand rounds through his gun each year!

Through a .22 rimfire, maybe. Through a centerfire, no way, absolutely NO WAY, unless he rebarrels his "gun" once a week.

The thing to do is stick with the Rem 700 factory trigger and send it to Neal Jones for reworking: http://www.neiljones.com/html/gunsmithing.html

I have one Jewel and one Timney on each of two Winchester match rifles. At the 1.5 Ib. setting I use for conventional Long Range the Jewel is great, but the Timney is very crisp w/ predictable let off. For the shooter on a budget, it is pretty good.

Even though I abandoned the Rem 788 for my project I still shoot it so I bought a Timney trigger for it, oh what a difference. Once I installed it with no adjustments I could feel a big change, light and crisp. So I adjusted it down to about +/- 2lbs and it got even better. The original 788 trigger must have been factory set at 8 - 10lbs because I had to use the middle section of my finger to pull the trigger. Since this trigger is adjustable I might consider using it for hog hunting. I would like to take this time to thank everyone for there input.
