Trigger vs Trigger

Hey guys, I trying to decide on a trigger for my 6BR project. Oh by the way, I abandoned the Rem 788 donor action and opted the use my Rem 700 action instead but of course I had to order a standard bolt from PT&G to replace the 223 bolt. I'm down to choosing which trigger to use. My requirements are competition grade, totally adjustable, trigger pull less than one pound, working safety and factory style bottom bolt release. I have been looking at the Jewell, Rifle Basix and the Shilen. I'm sort of leaning towards the Shilen, I am on a budget but not locked in. I would like to get an honest opinion and 2 cents worth about these triggers. The manufacturers all say there triggers are the best but you guys know better. Thanks

Jewell is the proven winner in a lot of venues and has all the features you want. Its quality is very good. I've worked on a Basix and wouldn't buy one, it seemed quite a bit less refined than the Jewell. I don't have any experience with the Shilen. I use a lot of X-Treme triggers, these are two-stage and may not be what you want, but it's something else to consider. http://www.x-tremeshooting.com/

german, not to take away from the op, but what is your view on the timney triggers?

Of the 3 mentioned the Jewell is your best bet.... The only other one worth mentioning would be the Kelby, but I'm don't think it's available with a safety, or the bolt release and thats a shame....

My 6BR has the Remington trigger in it at present. ( Rem M700 action) When I get it back from the smith because Im having the barrel changed I'll be testing various loads first but them later will change to a Jewell. The model I want with the top safety and lower bolt release...EVERYONE is out of them for some reason...but luckily it wont interfere with my schedule. Jewell is the way to go

German Salazar: The man that makes those Extreme triggers is just 15 miles or so from me. Ive been wanting to stop in at his place and take a look at his offerings but just havent had the opportunity as of yet.

Butch, what is your take on the Shilen competition trigger? Is it not as crisp as a Jewell? I 'm not a competitive BR shooter, but a 2oz to 8oz trigger I thought, is a little hard to beat compared to a 1.5 to 4 lbs trigger for any type of bench work.

shootr,
I've not needed a 2oz trigger in years. I have a Jewell on my BR rifle. I do prefer the Shilen on hunting rifles.

Butch, I'm building this gun for target shooting and club bragging rights not hunting and to stop getting beat up by my buds every time we go shooting.....it's time someone else buys the "Pepsi"

timmeny is fine for hunting....go with jewell for competition. shilens are good but will wear out quicker than a jewell...cant go wrong with jewell...its a jewell...lol

Butch, I don't make anything (except trouble)! I think he missed the comma after my name. Tom Myers makes the triggers.

I have not seen a worn out trigger but with my schedule I get to the range about once a month. I guess Fred shoots a couple hundred thousand rounds through his gun each year!

I have several Shilens, Jewells, 1 Timney on a Mauser, 6 Blackburns on Mausers, 1 Canjar on a BR rifle, 1 Geiselle on my AR, a Kenyon on a Mod 37 Remington, and none have worn out. I do keep all of them clean with lighter fluid. I forgot! I have a Remington 2oz. trigger, a Jewell 10-22 trigger, and another un named in my Ruger #1.
