Trigger pull

Just bought a Wheeler trigger pull gauge. I have 3 Savage actions and I like the accu trigger (one of the few maybe). But I have no problems with them. The gauge measure 11.5, 12.0 and 12.5 oz on the 3 after a few tries on each. I never really felt which was the lightest and I bought this gauge as a Christmas present to myself. What is a preferred number on a BR rifle by most folks? I felt mine broke cleanly and never really thought they were heavy at all but I would like to know if that is crazy high or not. Thanks.

Most break at 1.5-2 oz. but as long as yours breaks consistently the same way all the time that is all that matters.

Me, personally, I wouldn't mess with those triggers. The accu-trigger target (read red trigger) can be safely adjusted down to about 6 oz. or so, Needs to be done by someone that understands those triggers. If these are your regular accutrigger, they're fine set at that, especially if they break at that consistently. I'll get my fire retardant suit on.

Trigger pull weight ?
I'm not hung up on what weight.

mine is set so I can very carefully find my spot with my index finger pad. (Without AD")
After that the next slightest pressure sends a round down range.
How light is that?
Don't know Don't care

BTW- Rifle Basix Sav-2

I have several savage guns and the red blade trigger will adjust to 4to 6 oz
To check a trigger pull most forget the reading they get included in the number is the spring on the blade
Most after market triggers are un safe
The evolution is the only one that works

I'm not 'hung up' on the weight at all.
I just bought this gauge as it was on sale and I wondered what these 3 accu triggers on my 3 Savage actions were set at after I adjusted them. They are where I like them and I wondered what other folks were setting theirs at. Although in comparison mine are at least double what others have posted
above I'm fine with mine. I found it interesting but not a goal I was trying to reach.

scince when did jewell make a trigger for a savage??
Didn't mean to imply my Jewell triggers are on Savages..... the OP's question appears to be in general on all BR rifles.

However, as Butch has indicated Arnold Jewell did make a few Savage triggers in the early 00's.

Arnold gave one to my shooting partner Tim Lambert to test after he won the NBRSA 1000 yard HG Group Nationals in Byers,CO in 2003. Winning a National title with a Savage raised quite a stir back then. Savage flew Tim and his gunsmith to Savage headquarters to tell their story. There were a couple articles written about the feat.

By the way he just nudged out Dave Tooley for the title, setting a then 6 target agg record. They were neck and neck after each day. Remember that Dave??

Young feller, Jewell did make Savage triggers in the old days. I even tried one that Arnold brought to a match in New Braunfels, Texas. They are so busy with their other triggers that they put it on the back burner until??
My br triggers are Jewell at 1.5oz.
78 year old young feller knew jewel tried to make savage triggers, but never marketed any to my knowledge
I have a sav 2 ,works to my satisfaction
