Trigger pull weight for BR comp.

Just wanting to know what weight do you use?
I know it's more of a personal thing, but what is to heavy
and might upset the rifle and what's to light/ (scary light)
I'm slowly putting together a short range BR rifle and want to
know if my 4oz is going to be too heavy.

I leave my Jewell BRs set at 2oz. These are extremely safe triggers. The only way to get one to fire is to touch the trigger lever. I have never been able to get one to bounce off or fire when slamming the bolt.

So the way to avoid an AD is to follow the rules and keep the bolt out until you are given the "bolts in" command, and then to not touch the trigger until you are happy with your sight picture.

My personal setting is 4 oz. I use my F-Class rifles in 600 yd. IBS Bench Rest and it still works for me.

I run mine about 2.5oz according to my lyman trigger gauge. Its a jewel with safety and bolt release and seems to be pretty consitant tried to make it go off without pulling trigger and couldnt so guess its safe as any...btw its short range BR rifle

My fingers are Not very sensitive, so I keep them higher than most, plus I like too Feel the trigger before I pull it, tuff to do @2 oz,but that's just me.

On short range BR you'll need 1.5 to 2 oz., I tried a factory class BR Savage set at 6oz and it was way to heavy for me, I kept pulling "so hard" that I felt like I was pulling the gun off target.

Trigger pull is a very subjective thing. Earlier in my life I would spend a lot of my free time attempting to make my hunting rifles more accurate. This led me to replacing triggers. Thought 3 pounds felt great (on my gauge). As my shooting life progressed, I bought a short range BR rifle with a reportedly 2 ounce trigger. First I got used to it and learned to like it. Couple of years ago, I got a long range BR rifle, with a Bix and Andy trigger. Told my smith to set the rifle up the he does most every one else's rifle. Have no way of measuring a pull that light. Believe it could be a fraction of an ounce. Used to say "I could shoot this rifle telepathically". Still learning to love this trigger, but respect it. Hopefully my relationship with it will blossom with more experience. Throw in that I am relatively new to formal competition, so I am very cautious with it. As a retired, stay at home, grandpa, I have plenty of time quality time to spend with my rifles. Hopefully this will shorten the learning curve.
