Trigger Options for Sako Actions -- Particularly the L461

I've come to find that there are currently no after-market triggers that will fit the Sako L461 (and probably also the L579) action. The stock trigger is just OK, not really adjustable down to a light weight (at least that's the way it seems).

So do you guys have any suggestions? I know that the Canjar was available for years, but now they're really nowhere to be found. So can one of the really good available triggers--like the Jewell, Bix'n Andy, or some other--be modified to fit the Sako action? I assume that it would be a matter of hole-spacing for attaching screws, as well as location of the sear, that would require attention.

Failing this, is anyone out there rebuilding or modifying the stock Sako trigger to allow a lighter weight?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

the L 461 will accept almost any mauser trigger, you may have to square the release sear hole in the receiver tange. i have used mauser triggers on mine in the past, as well as put sako vertical sear triggers on mausers. henry

I sure would like to see a couple pics of this.

Sako 46's & 57's were Mauser type ( safety in the bolt ) . 461 & 579 are Module type ( safety in the trigger ). 461 with a Mauser trigger would not have any form of safety.

Send it to a good gunsmith. They are not hard to do a real trigger job on and get to a crisp 2lbs or so. This means someone who can do more than just turn screws. Keeping the safety working properly is very important on Sako triggers so you need some one familiar with them.

I just got a timney for my A111 that isn't bad. Not sure but they may be the same trigger from what I've heard.
the one I have is almost identical to the Mauser one I just got at same time just the release sear is squared off. Might be worth investigating.
The timney did have a safety.

find a Canjar trigger , may be a little expensive but worth it . Most mauser triggers can be made to fit . I say that with memory of me using triggers off of the sako and fitting them to mausers .
