Trigger opinions- Barnard vs CG

Anyone have a good rundown of how they stack up to eachother? Pro's and con's of each?

I've never used a CG so I can't compare, but the Barnard trigger, properly adjusted, is a good piece.

Mine is at 3oz and I set a very light/short first stage. The result is a trigger that I can verify that I am straight on before sending the round. This is on an F-open rifle.

After shooting a rifle with a Bix and Andy trigger I cant wait to sell some stuff to get one in the future. I have heard great things about the CG triggers but nothing compares to the new Bix and Andy in my book unless you need a 2 stage then I would choose the CG.

^^^^^ what John said. You pay for what you get and these are not cheap but these are going in all future builds.

I have both and they are very comparable. I prefer a two stage between 6-8 oz and they both perform flawlessly in that range. You will be happy with either.

I put together a rimfire to match my Barnard F-T/R rifle and used the CG trigger with a Hall H1 RB/LP. I have been very happy with it.

How does the CG complete to the Huber 2 stage? I fell in love with it a little over a year ago and swithed out all my jewells. That's in my Practical/Tactical rifles though. I prefer a 2 stage in general, but have recently acquired a Huber single stage to try. Also heard great things about Barnard. Trying to decide what to run in my first dedicated F-class rig.

The original CG was updated by X-treme Shooting Products, now known as the Model 22. I have one, and it's a beautiful piece of workmanship. The sideplate is removable so that you can easily see how the various adjustments change the alignment of the 4 levers. By far the BEST feature is if you takeup the 1st stage and then decide not to shoot. When you release the 1st stage the sear returns to a deeper, safer engagement. I don't believe any other 2-stage does this.

What you describe is what qualifies a TRUE 2-Stage trigger.

I am not sure if Accurate Shooter forum members know the CG Model 22 is now being manufactured here in Europe and we are fitting the Model 22 trigger as standard to all of the Actionclear UK/Shooting SHED built CG Model 59 Actions and CG Model 66 rifle chassis systems. They are available with and without safety and with both the light or heavy spring options.

The triggers are manufactured by Centra of Germany

I own one rifle with each of those triggers. The Barnard is on my long range prone gun, the CG is on an F-class gun. While the Barnard is a very fine trigger and the Barnard P action with their trigger is a great value, it is NOT up the standard set by the CG. IMHO the CG is the best 2 stage trigger you can buy for any rifle except a benchrest gun. The CG has the has the best trigger pull I've EVER used; adjustable, absolutely repeatable, smooth pull and clean break. If I could, I'd put a CG on every rifle I own. I think that I've used most of the high end competition triggers out there. The CG is my favorite by a wide margin, even though the Barnard is excellent.
