Trigger Jobs - Why?

WHY can't rifle manufacturers supply rifles with smooth, proper trigger pulls? Are they getting better? A six-pound pull trigger is ludicrous. Buy a rifle: buy an aftermarket trigger - why? Cliffy

I guess there was a time, probably before I was thought of, when a guy could adjust a factory Rem. trigger down to acceptable levels on his own. Then enters the litigous society and instead of people taking "responsibility" for their actions, they point the finger at the firearm manufacturer. This angers me badly cause I don't care what the situation is, almost no body wants to take responsibility for their actions. My dad raised me in a fashion that if I messed up, own up to the mistake, take my medicine, and try like hell to not let it happen again. What ever became of pride and integrity? Oh, I know! It got supplanted by the almighty dollar. The people that carry themselves this way are sad excuses for human beings!

Because that's what the greatest percentage of people buying a sporting rifle have come to expect. It's what they have become accustomed to.
Hand your rifle with a finely tuned 3# trigger to the typical deer hunter, or even varmint hunter and their comment is invariably....."Wow! this is set way too light. How can this be safe? Just a slight bump will set her off!"
Now let them try a 2 oz. trigger on a BR rig......"You guy's are absolutely insane...Why this is entirely unsafe.....is this allowed on this range?
No amount of explanation about "bolts out rule" or other comp safety procedures will convince them otherwise.

A six pound trigger is suitable for NOTHING, yet a two ounce pull is not the best for a hunting rifle, yet great for target match use. A two to two and a half pound trigger pull gives a heart-pounding deer hunter the accuracy edge needed, but not the delicacy of a two ounce "opps" regarding an adrenaline rush whilst aiming. Cliffy

Get rid of the 'Creep'!! Nooo, not Cliffy; :) the creep in your trigger. This is my biggest complaint. And for consistency I now use Jewell BR triggers on ALL my guns. I figured, why put my brain through another exercise trying to remember which trigger I'm pulling today. If you are hunting with one of these (and I do with a couple of them) you simply wait until you are going to shoot to close the bolt. If you don't shoot,,, you open the bolt. If you can't keep this routine straight you probably shouldn't be carrying the gun.. ;D
