TRIED MAKING 6BRs OUT OF 22-250s TODAY

Call Redding and tell them what you want to do, they have the form die.
I have a set I use to make 6TallDog brass out of 6 BR brass.
The first die takes the 30* shoulder down to about 11* AND moves it as far as you want. the second die changes the shoulder back to 30* Easy Peasy.

You guys were right about moving too much brass.
I annealed the neck only end of the die and opened the neck to 9/32 with a carbide end mill in the lathe.
Pushed the shoulder back to near the shoulder/neck junction of a 6 BR. Had to do it in steps with the work being done near the cam over. I simply turned the die out and gave it little turn on each pull of the press. Took about 4-5 pulls per case.
Not real efficient but certainly doable.
I don't have a 6 BR FL die to finish the forming so stymied here for now.
The ironic thing is this case looks like it might be close to my Tall Dog capacity goal as is.

"WARNING" this can be addictive. I did my first full case formed cat
about 50 years ago. A simple neck up or down don't count in my book.
Now lets talk mule barrels for fire forming......LOL

could be a long neck Dasher......Just saying

Yes I've successfully made a few fully formed wild cats for LRBR & PDn....it is addictive.

It is a significant challenge to try to do from reamers dies and brass you already have on hand as is the case with this current 22-250 to 6BR/22BR conversion. It will require fire forming but that'll happen while PDn.
I converted a standard 221 FB die to a Dillon cut- off die for the first step in my 20 VT process. It's one step processing from 5.56 to 221 FB on a Dillon 650 with case feeder. Still needs to be turned and/or converted 20 VT but a huge time saver.
Another project I have going is a 20 VT .100 short...trying to make a 32 VMax go 3400+ with 14g of powder. Similar to a K-Hornet in a modern high pressure case.
At this point in my life I've got more time than money and wild cattin' keeps me outta the 19th hole.
My PD host says "The winter years are like playin' in the 4th quarter with no timeouts left".

And you can make about any caliber you want with Butch's home made die set .
I never found anything the 6BR, or its derivatives, did better than the 6XC you are starting with. A little less powder and a little longer barrel life, ok. But that is only money. What is the time spent doing this worth?
Lot of things don't make sense if you put a value on your time spent.
I've got the rest of my life to do these types of projects....and like I wrote above... I'm playing in the 4th quarter with no time outs left....maybe near the 2 minute warning.
