The State used to give out contracts for picking up roadkill deer. Not sure if they still do that. We used to have to call and get a sheriff's deputy out to do paperwork in order to pickup a roadkill. We now have a toll free number to just call in and tell them where the deer is and we can take it home to process for the freezer. We also have a food pantry program so if we kill a deer that we can't utilize it's a simple matter of dropping it off at a locker plant. It is then processed and given to those in need.! Confronted a game warden at a food plot seminar about setting regulations by accident report or by management. Things changed, don’t be afraid to let the department know if you are not filling tags or starting kids. They play politics just like every else. Protect your food source for the good of the deer and families that need it. Commit to let nothing go to waste before you kill. I’m guilty but we are about to need this resource and should protect it. Legalize road kill, Illinois did it and that’s a pretty smart move, I’ll have to give them credit for that one...
Pretty much the same here that’s why I never let them know, you’ll just be sitting on the side of the road letting the deer ferment for an extra hour. The State used to give out contracts for picking up roadkill deer. Like every year. Shoot all you can and they keep making more. You won’t see a deer when they’re around.
You need to get to work on them!View attachment 1351194
