I went and picked up some of my trail cams and checked the pictures on Monday. Does anyone else think this deer looks like looks like it might have taken an arrow to the shoulder and survived? I figured a gunshot to that spot would have killed or maimed it.

Yes, but I also wonder if it could have been gored by an antler.

Looks like a wound above it also, maybe a pass through. Could be from a arrow from above straight down shot or antler going up.
Any way just a flesh wound that must of hurt like hell.

Behind the shoulder blade and above the lungs...pass through without much damage. I bet shooter is still looking for that one.

Steep angle high entry wound from right side of deer. Almost straight down.

I have hit a couple deer in that zone with a bow. With expanding broadheads it make a very distinct sound, and you know immediately where the arrow hit. It’s also the reason I do not use expandable BH anymore, the penetration sucks. I hit a rather large deer several years ago with a rage BH there. Jumped him twice that night tracking, then the next morning when I found him in his bed with his head up I could see the hit. He took off and luckily a month later a doe brought him right back by me. That time I made my shot count. He had healed over, and only a scar was left. Scar had a bald spot around it just like that one in pic

I agree, if this was a side shot from s a gun the animal would haven fallen on its feet
