Tracking

Doesn't the laws of physics work equally in horizontal axes besides vertical ones?

Why else would a left handed shooter shooting the same rifle slung up in prone have his windage zero the opposite side of the sight's bore sight setting than a right handed ones zero?

Why else would someone shooting prone as above see horizontal shot stringing with his front elbow shifting left and right in different positions under the barrel?

Why is a zero obtained with a rifle shooting prone horizontally changed when the rifle's zeroed as it rests on bags atop a bench and its butt against the shooter's shoulder?

The horizontal position of the mass center holding the rifle causes different amounts of barrel whip in that axis while the bullet goes down the barrel.
One word can account for part of it...Torque

Here is the current setup I've been testing out. Thanks for all the responses.

This has been tried. The problem with 2 wide tracking surfaces like this is they fight each other for control. The front and rear bags must be perfectly level to each other or the rifle with want to teeter. You can use a wide rear plate if your front is really wide but a 3" front and 2" rear just fights you. I like all the leveling to come from one bag, the other steers. A properly refined setup doesnt require any radical mods, the most important thing is the front of the stock has to be parallel to the rear. If you slide the rifle back an inch or two and the cross hair moves on the target you have to fix that or you will never get it tracking perfect. I would fluff the bag on this setup to try and let it form every time you setup. Also, when you get it tracking really good the knobs are actually faster than the joy stick. Nice looking rig.

Snipe, I would listen to Alex if I were you, he knows alot more about setup of a rifle then I do. Have you tried a regular bunny eared rear bag? If so, did it change your tracking?

Thanks for the I depth reply Alex. I've just looked on the forum to see it.
I've just had a new barrel fitted and will be experimenting with the setup to maximise accuracy in time for the next 1000 yard competition.
The front and rear running surfaces are parallel with each other. I'm going to compare this setup with a firm BR rear bag to note accuracy and tracking.

I'm experimenting this week with a rear bag to do some comparisons and further testing. Thanks.
