torque settings

I have an old model rugger 77 with the adjustable trigger and took the gun apart to refinish the stock but I cant find the torque settings to put the gun back togeather. Some people have said 35inch pounds on both screws and I'm thinking this is more of a guess than facts. If someone out there can help let me say thank you in advance.

You're probably safe there. I think my aluminum block stock was 60 or 65 MAX.

So 35 sounds good for a regular stock. Have you tried calling/emailing Ruger?

It depends. Rifles, like the other kind of sweetheart, all have their preferences as to how much of a squeeze they like. The 35 inch-pounds is a good start, but a trial at the range with variations may be worth the ammo.

I have heard of some torquing as high as 50 inch pounds, but that may be excessive unless the rifle needs that to shoot well. What ever works.

Hold center.

35 in lbs is a good place to start. I found that the torque settings are not only rifle specific, but load specific in any particular gun. I now take this into consideration when reloading.
