Torque setting for Anschutz 2013 BR 50

Just wanting your thoughts, on what torque settings you guys are using for yor Anschutz BR 50. The 2 Front screws and 2 back screws Also the tube, what is that torque at?

For the tube I only use enough to keep the tube from coming off - no sense in squezing the heck out of the barrel. On my aluminum-stocked 2013 I use around 4 N*M. I'd recomend trying a variety of different torques and see how your groups react. For simplicity its probably better to use the same torque on all screws...

Another thought on getting the proper preload on your Anschutz. There are, according to a study done by the Air Force quite a number of years ago, about 76 different things that influence the actual preload achieved on a threaded fastener when you apply a specific torque, and most of them are related to friction in various portions of the joint. The end result is that the fastener to fastener preload variation is much greater than most people realize when installing fasteners using a torque wrench - like 30% on the best day of your life, usually much more, in spite of the accuracy of the wrench itself, due to fastener to fastener friction variations.

To overcome this problem, do definitely experiment with different preloads as recommended above, but don't use a specific torque to establish preload. Tighten each fastener to a lightly snug baseline you can consistently duplicate, then use angular turn for the final loading. You'll vastly reduce fastener to fastener preload variation, plus, with the best angle established, you'll get much more consistent duplication of that preload with subsequent re-assemblies.
