Top Shots starts tomorrow

i've only seen a few minuet's of the show, i was embarrassed for every one on TV, and every one watching the show!! ENJOY FEBILE MINDED AMERICA DOGDUDE

dogdude,
If you look back @ cliffe's thread about top shots last year I felt just like you and was very openly opinionated about it, I am trying to be more open minded about it this season, time will tell
Wayne.

Agree DVR is the best way to watch the show. The first season first show was terrible. After that it was ok if you dismiss the reality part of it as show business. The actual competitons were interesting. Having run many paper target matches, I know there is nothing more boring to watch than paper punching. I think they are showing shooting in a good way and making it interesting to watch.

Some of their history is a bit off. Many of the Berdan Sharpshooters used their own target rifles to "Qualify". Certainly not a Mdl 1874 Sharps. Their first issue rifles were Colt revolving rifles, then later the Percussion Sharps rifles.

For that first match at least the shooters after the first or second shooter realized they had to raise the ladder sight.

All in all I think a decent shooting show you just have to ignore the reality B.S. and enjoy the shooting competition.

B.L.

Note that the "good old boy" center punched it so either it was pure luck or the rifle could shoot. I'm going with the rifle could shoot. Out of all the various holds I saw on the rifle, his was the olny one that impressed me. How does a top pistol shot miss 7 times? I think the guys that impressed me most from the limited viewing that gets edited out are "good ole boy" & "homeland security guy"

I watched last season fairly frequently and thought it was so-so, but as soon as the plotting and colluding to eliminate certain competitors and name-calling came out I turned it off and never picked it back up. I can't stand that crap and refuse to support it in any form. I always thought the shooting community to be populated by a more rational, mature sort, but certain people from the previous season have me wondering. I was also annoyed to hear JJ lost, I thought he was the most well-rounded natural marksman. Anyway, I haven't decided if I want to watch this season.

Also, I don't want to pick on bozo, but...

I tend to agree Brian, if they keep the survivor-man, soap opera antics out of it...if too much whinny survivorman stuff gets started I am back to 6br and the tube goes off.

I can't let one of my favorite TV shows be filed in with some generic 'reality' show. Survivorman was Les Stroud demonstrating survival techniques in various environments. It hurts me a little to see it confused with Survivor, I had to defend its good name! ;)

If that was a Pedersoli Sharps 45/70, it will shoot close to 1 MOA with custom soft lead bullets. If they were using "hard cast" commercial reloads, the gun might shoot 10 MOA. Obviously, the shooters were having trouble with the zero. And, I suspect, it may have been very difficult to see the orange target at 200 yards.

Homeland security guy had a very good pistol hold/stance. I was surprised many of the other shooters had poor pistol grips -- as thought they really had limited experience. We shall see...

Maggie was missing her red dot sight and muzzle comp I have to suppose. She should have done better.

HolyMeekrob,
I don't feel picked on, as a matter of a fact thank you for pointing out my poor choice of words or rather my miss-pronunciation I should have said survivor the reality show not survivorman, I wasn't confused just a momentary laps of a working brain :D
Wayne.

I bet kelly is wishing he was in it this year with a 2 grand gift card for the winner of the shoot off. cliffe

I havent seen "Top Shots" or "Suns of Guns" but I agree that it has to be good for the sport. Any co-workers, friends or reletives that hear about me getting into competitive shooting all ask if I watch one or both of those shows.

Its good to show firearms being used in a (hopefully) harmless sport such as these popular shows, many people think of guns enther as be used to kill or as practicing to kill. The more i think about it the better it sounds for all shooters.

I enjoyed last season and this season. I understand that the survivor elements are kind of lame but they create drama, especially for those who are not familiar with firearms.

All the drama crap is what keeps my wife interested. This is one of the few shows we watch together. That makes the drama bit well worth it for me :)

Like its been said before, the drama is what gets most people interested. Whatever, i dont watch the show, as long as a lot of people do watch it for whatever reason its getting the good word out.

"Don't teach me how to properly hold a gun, just show me how to be faster and more accurate with it!" - Jay Lim

LOL, that guy makes a lot of sense doesn't he? ;D

If Jay Lim wins , I won't watch it again. There is no doubt that he has a bunch of hand to eye talent, BUT he is totally incapable of taking instruction from anyone because he is already better :o DUH, gripping the pistol correctly does make you go faster ::) I would love for 2 of the world's best to give me personal instruction. I would also like to go to the elimination round with him, maybe the force would be with me ;D

He does have a point.. If you are use to certain technique, changing up right before a competition is a bad idea. It takes time and practice to get use to a new/better technique.

Technique, Mental, and physical ability all come in to play. Lack in physical ability can compensated with good technique and focus. I think with Jay we are seeing the opposite, good focus and natural ability compensating for his lack of technique.

Surprised this thread died... the ending was pretty crazy! My opinion of one person took an abrupt change of course...

I loved watching the so called experts make such dumb mistakes,it was like it was fixed? They stress team work when only one could win anyway. All the backstabbing of jay was just like the highschool bullys that took out their frustration on me knowing they were the cowards ganging up on people that did them no harm.
