This is a kit of three bullet meplat trimmers made by Tooley Custom Rifles (TCR). We acquired these and made the crank handle in house for a client research project on drag coefficient and ballistic performance study. All trimmers very light used or not used at all.
To use these, we held them in a micrometer base, like shown in the photograph (not included in offer) and very carefully trim the meplat. These have either two or four blade cutters and work very well.
What is old is new! For years benchrest shooters have understood the benefit of uniforming the meplat for hollow-tipped bullets for performance gain at the very small sacrifice of ballistic coefficient. And now it seems Hornady has “discovered” this benefit and offer their new patented Drag Variability Reduction Technology (DVRT). Basically, just flattening the plastic ELD tip.
