TOOK MY FIRST YOTE TODAY!!!!!!

well ive been shooting ground squirrels for about 5 years now. I love shooting small critters from a long way away, but ive been wanting to see if i could call in a coyote and take it.

I recently bought a closed reed hand blown caller. I sat and called for about a half hour, then moved about a half mile down, made two calls in about 10 minutes and there he was. He came in and stopped at 208 yards out. He saw me before i saw him but i kept him interested with a couple quiet calls, then WHAP! The 22-250 dropped him cold.

I wanted him so bad, i was shaking like a leaf! I wasn't nervous like that when i shot my first cow elk!

My rifle is a rem 700 stainless varmint, with a stock similar to the XR100 stock. 22-250 loaded with home moly'd nosler 55gr BTs. It used to have a jewell trigger but i swapped it to my new 6br, now its got the stock trigger, self adjusted to a 2.5lb pull.

thanks guys! does anyone know of a site where i can learn how to skin em and make pelts?

im hoping when winter comes i can get one with a nice coat so i can have me a nice pelt!

Nothing like hunting coyotes. When they rush in there is no other type hunting that gives you such a rush. Your ruined now for ever. The predmasters link is a pretty cool site with lots of info (once you get past some of the BS). Just beware you will own a foxpro, a black gun, & a LOT more custom calls than ten people need, if you spend much time there.

Look's a little scrawny too me must be just out of the den and very young
Just my two cents

he does look a little young, but other than that....thats the way they all look around here. they get bigger and prettier once you get up in the higher elevation. im looking forward to hunting different locations around the county here. we've got deserts, valleys, mountains....it's good here, but a lot of the land is blocked off from oil lease (which i think is bullshiv) or private land.

BTW, does anyone know the rules about oil leases? i dont understand why oil companies can fence off government land....even when they dont have any damned wells on them!!!

did the bullet exit? Doesn't appear so from the pic. Lee

ya know, i didnt roll him over, but i dont think it did. it was a thin jacketed varmint bullet so i think it just exploded on the inside. i went all the way back to my truck to get the camera and there wasnt any blood running out from underneath him....but i tell you what....he absolutely DROPPED!!!
