A cat 4 will take my shop roof , my machine shop should be okay , house should be standing but all will be missing roof parts . I just may be having a post hurricane clearance sale on Mausers .

I was wondering what is the most hold off that you have ever shot and what was the speed of that wind? I was tempted to shoot at range when hurricane winds would die down in the 50-60 MPH range but range closed? An intellectual curiosity.

In 2004 or 2005 we had Francis, Jean and Ivan. I think there was another one but we got minimal wind. During Francis or Jean I was getting a little nuts so right after the eye passed and the winds were at there worst ( according to weather about 130 ) I stepped out on the front porch with a 260 Remington took aim on a pine tree about 30 yds off and let 2 shots go, both hit the tree but 5 or 6 inches from point of aim. I picked the biggest tree I own and shoot close to the ground where it was biggest and from my downward trajectory I knew the bullet could only go about 10 more feet till it hit the ground. I won't be doing that in the next day or two.

Gary It won't do any good to have a sale. No one will be able to get there. When I came over after that storm a few years ago I was on my 3 try. Just too much debris and traffic with no signals.

You take care gmac. I hope all ends well. I had to stay in homestead for the last hurricane and re-energize palm beach co and the keys. It was awful seeing the key deer not have any water and all the residents lose pretty much everything. The insurance companies were there giving boats away if you would get them off the highway

I grew up in Hurricane country.

If you are such a moron you do not evacuate when they tell you to...well, you are a moron and you deserve whatever happens.

When they tell you to get the hell out of Dodge...go. Immediately.

There are way too many idiots who moved down to Florida and have no idea what a Hurricane actually is.

Pack up. Board up. Head north.

Life is worth more than property.

Where I grew up, in Pensacola, Florida, we still remember Hurricane Camille: I remember there were people killed having a "Hurricane Party" ... I was a young kid at the time but my parents told me what happened. They were in the area and they high-tailed it out of there.
