Tinninitis solutions

a few years back a fellow shooter weisdorn had a suggestion about a vitamin or something but I cannot find it and have tried a couple of shooters to reach out to him as well as Facebook,

anyone remover the thread or have some info on this, recently a good friend is having some problems and I should try to help them

thoughts.

I've actually found a use for it. I used to sleep with one of those 'sound generators' to keep me from hearing the ringing. Over time the ringing continued to get worse, and I had to keep increasing the volume on the sound generator.
It finally occurred to me not to fight it, but rather embrace it.

Now I sleep like a log, no artificial background noise required.

The supplement is Taurine 1000mg capsule, available at health food stores. For me, it lessened the volume & the frequency. It works for some but not everyone.

No cure period.
Reduce caffeine" reduce or quit smoking "
I use a small fan at night or listen to the bedroom tv or both.
If this is work related it's worth about 6k L&I claim and free hearing aids for life.
Ask me how I know!

One thing I find that makes it worse is the use of aspirin and Advil. I think Tylenol wont do it, but the other OTC painkillers will. Goody's powders, which is one of the most effective {at least for me} of course seems to do it the worst.
I find that after having it so long I now wake up in the morning and it is not ringing but about late morning or lunchtime it starts to go. By 4:00pm I am flying in a Lear jet.
I remember seeing a ENT specialist for it and getting a hearing test. She walked in and said, "good news and bad". "The bad is you have hearing loss" and I said, "you got it wrong...this aint a loss it's hearing gain" She laughed and said, "well, the good news is your brain will learn to tune it out in about a year". That was twenty years ago!!!!
You can believe one thing...if there was a cure out there no matter what it costs or where I had to go to get it I would be telling everyone about it.

Edit; I remember my left ear being the one to start first and I told the Dr. "that figures" she asked what I was talking about and I said, "I shoot right handed, my left ear is closer to the muzzle blast". She said, "nope, this isn't from gunfire, it's way too high frequency for that"....I was a machinist for many years. Apparently it's not the amount of noise it's the constant same frequency that does the damage over a long period of time. Wear ear plugs!!!!!

Yeah. Right! I’ve had it since Vietnam in 1968. My brain tunes it out, unless I’m awake.....

My free hearing aids don't aid much, my ear doctor told me I was a lip reader.

You know the family Dr. I see asked me once if I "enjoyed" having her repeat things twice. I can hear. I told her, "no, you gotta get your mind right doc...I am not making you repeat for the fun of it, I am training you not to mumble!!! "I got no problem hearing you tell me to cut cholesterol or take meds".

Hear this whole time I thought it was just voices in my head , but they where speaking a different language.
Just glad I never do what they tell me to do.

I tried this technique and it does seem to reduce the intensity and pitch for me, but who has a time or place to do it? Give it a shot.

Step 1
Rest the palms of your hands alongside your head, covering your ears with the section of the palms nearest your wrist. Your fingers should be held gently on the back of your head, pointing toward one another.

Step 2
Hold your hands so that the fingers extend and the tips of the middle fingers just barely touch, and are resting on the base of your skull about one inch above where your skull meets your neck.

Step 3
Place your index fingers on top of your middle fingers like you would do to cross the fingers.

Step 4
Firmly snap the crossed index fingers off the middle fingers against the base of the skull. Make sure you are not snapping onto your neck but onto the occiput, the bone at the base of the skull. There will be a loud drumming, hollow sound. Repeat the finger snapping action about 50 times.

Goodys have Aspirin and caffeine so that would explain it.

I've had it for close to 40 years. Was advised in the beginning to take the vitamin Niacin, and it helps, by dilating the blood vessel's in your ear allowing blood to flow more freely. There is a side effect, you may experience blushing {skin turns red} & a warm feeling. Was told that the buzzing sound is blood flow thru your ear.

SPJ find another doctor, that is knowledgeable about Choclear implants, you are probably a candidate, and if your on medicare they will pay for the surgery and the Choclear device.
Chuck Miller (BR Bullet Maker) was deaf in both ears when I showed him my device and what it did, he went to a doctor well versed in Choclear technology and can now hear pretty well. It does’t hurt to check and see!

Nice
Thank you!!
After that surgery I'll only be dumb and blind :)

That seems to work!
Ears have been ringing since I was a teenager - gun fire and rock & roll.
