Time to vent.....

I wasn't going to say anything about the first time, I let the second slide, and now the third is the proverbial straw........I'm not naming names, but it shouldn't take an Einstein.....

A while back I ordered a reamer from a well known company. The base of the reamer was TIGHT, not snug, TIGHT, so much so, an unfired piece of brass would not chamber or eject. Stuck in the chamber, tore a chunk out of the rim, and had to pull the barrel, beat on the bolt handle while pounding on a cleaning rod to get it out. Called them up, and they argued that there was nothing wrong. Sent the reamer in, had the base ground 2 thou bigger, and got charged $75 re-grind fee, got a barrel chambered up, and fired brass still too damn tight, with a huge click at the top. Called them up, ordered another reamer to be ground correctly at the base, got refunded all charges to this point, and started over. Third barrel with the new reamer was finally right. When asked about my refund that I couldn't find on my statement, they found it was credited SOMEONE ELSE'S CREDIT CARD!!!I finally got that straightened out and a good reamer.......

All's well that ends well, until...............

Another prominent distributor had a Fourth of July 10 percent off sale, good only on that date. So I decided what I wanted to order, but when it came time to check out, I couldn't. On their site they acknowledged that they had issues with Firefox, and to use IP instead if needed. I couldn't use that either, so I scrapped trying to order online and decided to call on the next day. On the phone the next day, they would not honor the discount, saying it was only good on the 4th and there was nothing they could do. Never mind I had an order ready for well over a grand I wanted buy, evidently they could care less about the sale or customer satisfaction......

So, a week later, I'm thinking there is a God, cause another bullet company has a big sale to peddle the very same bullets I was planning on ordering, for a great price. I got right on the horn, got the gal on the second try, but then when she tried to process my order, she couldn't, as the part numbers didn't jive. So she had to contact the boss, the bullets were all messed up in the ad, so until the inventory got straightened out, she couldn't finish my order. She said she wouldn't sell any they found out what they had for sure. It took 45 minutes to finally get through, and they sold ALL the bullets I wanted, and half the others!!!

What the hell is going on these days???????

Rant off......til my next order........

Alf, It's starting to be about as obvious as the nose on my face that both work ethics and customer service have become a thing of the past regardless of what line of business or service is being provided. It's seems to me that half of the people I deal with are incompetent, haven't a clue or could care less. What happened to holding people accountable for their actions?

Think THAT'S Bad? Try driving down Division Street at rushhour.

As far as businesses an such, when bargin shopping the olde adage still applies;
"You get what ya pay for"

There's a ton of places I won't do business with. They simply will not get MY money.
I don't care how much they promise I'll save, 10% isn't worth the hassel.

When using Credit Cards you can enter disputes/problems with/through the card company. If I get hassled so does the supplier, I will go through extra effort to delay or otherwise cause them to go through extra work too in the end,
,get MY money

Well I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with a big fat "L" on my forehead.

I thought I was the only getting singled out........ ;D

I've been thinking about that fishing thing too. I could buy a very nice boat with what I have in just three rifles. Added benefit of taking home to eat what you catch!

I agree that incompetance is clearly the problem. A well known big company I do business with sent me the wrong egw base and I ordered another and by sending it back I would have lost approximatly 40% of the cost for restocking their mistake.Soooooooooooooo I sold the base on here and took a loss of only 20% which is what you have to do to get rid of goofed order's. I really wish they would have some pride and dignity and respect for their customers. It is really sad that they hire people to handle the phone's and their business over to people that clearly know nothing about the product they sell. Maybe someday they will hire someone like me to take orders,oh wait , that wont happen because they wont pay honerable wages as the bottom line is all they care about.

People 'shop' price, jonbearman. Price is directly tied to labor costs. And, regardless of what many seem to think, profit margins on many items is very thin.

HMMMM,

I got this mark on my forehead that I thought was an "L"....but when I look in the mirror, it's backwards!!!! So now I am a confused looser. :-[

I ordered a 24" 223 upper last November on sale that I thought would make a good change up while shooting p-dogs this August (ended up being middle of July). I assumed that with the things being on sale that meant overstocked and ready to ship. I didn't get it until March sometime and we were busy, but I did get time to put it together, just never got around to shooting it. I finally got around to shooting it and the barrel was so bad you could see perpendicular marks running around the bore with a naked eye. I called them and they wanted it back to replace the barrel. I sent it back 4/18/2011 and still don't have it in my possession. On 6/23 I was told that it was all ready to go except for a forend with was out of stock. I guess the bi-pod stud didn't clock right on the new barrel. Still waiting

Last year I thought I would order a pre-fit for a Savage I had. I checked out the web page that listed all available calibers and the availability and made my choice. Called them up and told them what I wanted to purchase and NO it was out of stock, went to plan B and it was out of stock too, ended up somewhere around plan D or E.

Almost forgot the funniest thing. A couple years ago while looking around the gun counter at the world's largest outfitter I overheard a conversation between customer and guy behind the counter that should know something. It went something like so this is a 300 win mag huh? Is this a lot bigger than a 300 win? Guy behind the counter says oh yes the mag is a lot more powerful...

At least the new rifle worked out in a timely manner and actually came in under expected time. But, as with anything, there were/are a couple of issues with it too.

On the web-site of a well-known manufacturer:
Due to an overwhelming volume of email requests for information, we are unable to accept inquiries by e-mail at this time.

Which is fine when you are on the same continent as them, but when you aren't, it is somewhat inconvenient.

Me to Butch, I have very few complaints, heck even my worthless pact II chronograph will get fixed at only a 14.95 shipping cost but I doubt I send it in as it probably still won't work right, its just easier to order a 35P, that way I can have my cake and belly ache too ;)

Didn't say ya' do, Bozo! But , there are those who will "step over dollars to pick up dimes", usually those who are new to shooting or someone who thinks they can build or get the best for less. Deal with reputable companies and you won't have problems as they care about their repeat customers!
