Time to start planning the fall hunt

Purchased my non-resident license, deer tag and bear tag for Western Oregon this fall. Going with my dad this year. Last year our very own Bc'z, and his lovely wife asked their Rottweiler if I could stay with them for my first time hunting Oregon. The dog said yes, btw. Had a great time and am staying only a few miles up the road from them this year.

It's getting about that time to start planning out of state hunting trips, draws are getting reported, reservations need to be made. Where are you hunting this year? First time? Annual trip?

I can't wait to get back in those steep hills chasing elusive black tail this year!

Alex looking forward to hanging out and meeting your folks. Indian Mary is a beautiful campground on the Rogue river.
I'm buying my tags tomorrow, bear season start August 1st.
We're gonna be hitting the hills glassing clear cuts and berry patches including the Manzanita's.
We use this time to also scout for elk and deer as general Archery season starts end of August.

Scouting for bears is always fun!! Walking the dogs, up from my house a few hundred yards, the dogs treed a nice black bear 5 minutes into the walk. Makes for a little excitement!! We have some real monsters here. Never leave the house without the .40 cal.

My out of state hunt has been completed. Just waiting for cooler weather to go out and clear the shooting lanes, do some maintenance on the tree stands, spray the ghillie suit with permethrin and get in a little crossbow practice, Delaware archery comes in September 1 and PA, Sept 15. Weather permitting, I'll be in the stand both days.

Dale,
I just picked up a ghillie suit for my upcoming archery hunts here in WA (Elk) and back home in WI (Whitetail). Don't want to hijack this thread so I'm going to start a thread on ghillie suits. Hopefully to get "direct reports from watch standers" like you and other members on ghillie suit usage. Mike

My old hunting buddy told me once if I wore street clothes I'd see more game than if I wore camouflage....

I killed my last 3 bucks in flip flops and shorts during archery season.

I think Bob was on to something

My season was cut short by illness last year only got to hunt a few days from Nov 1- Feb. this year I'm going to again attempt to take two coyotes with my bow, two with a 150 yr old shotgun(1870), two with my handgun and the rest with my rifle unless the first ones were too much fun and take more with them.
