Time to re-tune my 6br

My 6br midrange gun was pressed into LR duty as that gun was being built. As a result, I tuned it to a velocity of 2800fps to remain supersonic at 1Ky. At that tune, it never impressed me. I haven't shot it much since my LR gun was completed, but I'd like to rerun a test before deciding to rechamber it to BRX or something else.

What is the general velocity for a 24" barrel 6br with 105 class bullets? Currently shooting the 107smk but have 106eps to shoot in it, too. Looking at the numbers, I think just over 2700 might be the ticket? Will be shooting varget and 7-1/2 primers in lapua brass. .272 neck, .104 freebore.

My old 6BR was shooting tiny groups at 2825 fps with a 105 Berger VLD. Barrel was 24" long. CCI450 was the primer of choice in my load using Varget. The most accurate varmint rifle I have ever had the pleasure of shooting. Rockchucks would duck and run for cover!!

I have a 30" barreled 6BR and a 24" barreled 6BR, while the 30" is moving 2,898 fps and the 24" is 2,778 fps they both shoot bugholes with 105's. I would recommend you try to listen to what the barrel is telling you instead of trying to push it to maximum velocity.
