Time to buy a new Beretta

Geronimo Jim

Gold $$ Contributor
Just heard that Beretta is moving from Maryland to Tenn. The reason is the gun laws in Md. Good for them. I did the same......moved from Maryland to West Va in 2001
We need to support the companies that support the 2nd amendment. I will be buying a new Beretta soon. Just bought some Mag Pul stuff as well. They moved out of
Colorado due to gun laws.

I would hope these companies that are moving would stop all sales to the State they moved from including to Law Enforcement in that State.

I'm somewhat of a pessimist. Did their taxes go down by moving? If so, it was a financially motivated move.

Mag Pulls move was for political reasons, don't know about Beretta.

I just don't trust that the Beretta move was fully motivated by political reasons. Good on them if so. To play the devil's advocate, I still chalk it up as a win for the left. They impose unconstitutional laws, and companies shudder and leave. That is what the left wants (and often gets).

Here is the Beretta press release.

My brother is a long time economic development person. I'm sure all the companies that moved had a nice economic package offered to them. If the politics had been different in NY, Connecticut, Colorado, Calif., and others they wouldn't have moved. They are the big losers.
Some people wonder how a small city located close to major highways and possibly railroads can offer for free a $2 million facility for free and greatly reduced city and county taxes. The deal may be for 7 years. If they stay that long the building and property is deeded to them. If you have a small mfg. concern move in and provide 50 jobs that will average $40,000 per person. that is $2,000,000 per year added to the community, plus all the other benefits to all the merchants, home builders, grocery stores, doctors, and so on.

As should be every move, right? Would you rather they go to a higher tax state, like California, so they will be forced to raise prices and conform to the socialist BS that is rampant out here?

Do any of us do anything because our objective is to be less successful? (Excluding liberal Democrats, who obviously want to reduce America to a wasteland of government-dependent hordes...)

Is there any question that the moves are for a 'long time' and not for the short term 6 years or so? I see the move as 'both', in that the political environment and rules/regulations/laws were becoming hard to deal with, and then throw in the attitude of the state in the 'we love your money but hate your business' thing. And finally, bottom line or money drives the last nail. Personally, if a state told me they hated my products and were going to tax me out of existence given the chance, why would I stay?
