View attachment 1000500 View attachment 1000501 View attachment 1000502 Yesterday afternoon, in the last fifteen minutes of daylight, on the last day of the season, at approximately 17:18 hrs, was a huge turning point in my son Liam "Boots" Champagnes' life. A right of passage in our family, one might say.
Not only did he kill a Massive 10 point buck. But, he shot it at 440 yards (on range finder) with a single shot across a Bean field. He also did it with a 7mm Magnum rifle we built together.
After sending the bullet, we saw the Buck take a small hop then disappear into the broom straw uncertain of its fate. With almost disheartened certainty, not expecting to find what we did; we drove the 440 yards to where we last saw it, and there it lay; one shot, straight through the heart. We got off the four wheeler, looked at the mass and hugged each other for five minutes. I was so proud of him, I almost started to tear up. Not because he had harvested a ten point buck, but for making that kind of shot at 13 years old. It was a bonding moment we will remember for years to come.
We'd like to thank the Rodrigue family for their Louisiana hospitality and Sierra Bullet company for making such a great product. (140 grain Game king bullet)
