Tikka Tenon Diagram

Does anybody here have a Tikka T3x Tenon Print they've used reliably? I'm seeing conflicting reports online regarding the tenon and while I know I'll need to fit it to the action I'd like to have a sure foundation. Thank you.

I can't help with the print but I will tell you that a lot of smiths machine the front of the action in order to remove that taper near the receiver face so that it will blend in with a little bigger bbl breach/shank. It's best to measure it.

Yea that's what I was going to do. Just like to have an outside opinion is all. First Tikka I've done and it's a carbon barrel. Want to make sure it's perfect the first time.
I don't blame ya. If you have the old bbl you could duplicate it or specific dimensions, like thread pitch diameter.

The barrel blank is 1.120. I don't believe it'll be necessary to machine off the front taper, but I have seen that done.
I forget the number. 1.120 may be small enough. Some people prefer more shoulder contact but judging by the way Tikka torques em on, it seems just fine.

......but judging by the way Tikka torques em on, it seems just fine.

It can't be worse than Remington 7 Mag we had in the shop the other day. I swear it must have been put on with the wrath of God. Almost ripped the barrel vice out of the table! I eventually cut a relief to save from destroying the action. No saving that barrel....

A while back, a retired policeman friend who took up gunsmithing brought an early Tikka barrel and action by for me to see exactly what it was. I determined while it was very close to 1” 16 tpi, in reality it was a 25mm 1.6 mm.

this was a Tikka from Sako.

I determined this by chucking the barrel up, and setting the lathe to cut 16 tpi and then 1.6 mm. Using a tool centered in V’s, I carefully watches as I turned the chuck by hand.

It was 1.6 mm.

The Tikka is easy. For the tenon length, measure from the receiver face to the bolt nose and from that subtract your required clearance. I have turned a bunch of these recently using a tenon OD of .997" and threaded 16 tpi. You may need a thread relief on the shoulder side so that that the barrel shoulders easily.
