TIKKA T3X varmint coal

G'day all thinking of buying a Tikka Varmint and have discovered I can get custom magazine that allows me to seat out to 2.6 inchs just wondering if anybody had one and new how far out you can seat a 75 grain eld-m in relation to the lands and what overall cartridge length is when touching .

Cheers DD

Ive been curious about this as well. Mainly because I would like to get one and try some 80gr stuff. Would any of the 80s fit in a mag at a length that makes sense with the chamber of the Tikka? I'm probably going with a CTR when I can find one unless I find a 24" varmint first.

G'day all well willing to take the risk I just ordered the rifle should have it about 3 weeks .
Load hopefully will be varget and 75 grain eld-m will do a review once I have it sorted .

Cheers DD
It’s hard to go wrong with a Tikka. I have a couple (well 6 to be honest) that I put custom barrels on so I could set my own throat. Just mentioning.

I hear you on that ....... my problem is around here there no gunsmiths worth trusting most won't even take the job on.
A good gunsmith is very hard to find in the state of Victoria I would like to do what you did and have a 223 ackley improved reamer run into the chamber while I'm at it .

Well, I’m feeling sad for you. Your predicament sucks!

Yes it certainly does it is the reason why my 260 was not built .
did a bit of research on the net decided to buy a Tikka tac A1 in 260 could not be happier it's more accurate than the 260 that I built back in 2015

How hard of a time are you having sourcing brass?

I only use lapua so no problems whatsoever absolutely tons of powder anywhere projectiles little bit sketchy Primers are very hard to find .

No not the factory magazine.
I bought one from a guy that advertised on here from Australia.
OAL was 2.6 for that magazine.
Would it fit in an AICS? Trying to decide whether to go with a Varmint or CTR in 223 and which mag to run for the option to mag feed some kind of 80gr (don't really care which one as long as it shoots) and then I'll probably run 75/77s most of the time for PRS and casual shooting.

yep AICS is 2.550 usually.

So did anyone notice the OP stated tons of powder. Confirms my belief, there is powder but it's not being allowed into the USA . Thank the Communists running our country today.
