Tikka T3x barrel removal

Anyone tried to remove a factory barrel from a Tikka T3x..?? I am NOT having any luck with flat sided action wrench and heavy duty barrel vise..
Must have 150+ ftlbs of torque on them..

Cut a relief groove in front of the action. Itll come off with no wrench then. Some just wont come off

I hold every barrel in an aluminum barrel vise, I have a brownells wrench and smack it with a dead blow hammer. I have never had an action not break free, or give me any trouble to speak of. Tikkas are pretty tight, but they break free with a smack or two with no issue.

Last time I pulled barrels, I did 2-t3's and a 695 in a half hour. My Smith cuts a relief on the barrel, so I either lose a good factory barrel or pay to have it set back. I had planned on a few hour struggle in my attempt to save a few bucks. The secret trick must have been the Wheeler action wrench I bought. I also used two barrel vises. Get out your propane torch and put a little heat to it. It'll pop!

I have no idea if this will hold careful scrutiny. But in my years as an auto mechanic I have had great success trying to tighten a tough bolt just a smidge before loosening it. I theorize that since its already loaded that way and any rust has built behind the current contact points. A 1/16 turn tightening has work alot to make unscrewing easier.

The secret is to shock the threads with a dead blow hammer while holding tension on the thread. Continuous pulling does not do this.
Just as Alex described above. Now whack that thing. Lol.

I was using a barrel vise with aluminum jaws and rosin (didn't slip) and a action wrench with flats in top and bottom and thin aluminum shims to protect the finish.. hit the wrench handle several times with my 3 lb sledge, action wrench tried to go over the flats nearly marred the action... What is the correct shape of action wrench to use.??
I regularly remove the Howa barrels with my technique but Tikkas are getting my goat..can't cut on the barrel, because I am trying to remove the barrel to thread for suppressor not re-barrel the action.

I use a flat wrench, but no shims. You can tighten the wrench pretty tight on a Tikka, its not like a Remington that will compress on the threads. Honestly never had a problem with one, try a dead blow and smack it good.

The wrench handle. Don't hit your your other hand!

I use a half round section on the bottom and the flat handle side on the top with a 1/16” or so aluminum shim on the top. Tighten wrench evenly so there is no wobble and wack it with a 3lb aluminum mallet. The sharp strike breaks them loose with no issue for me.
