Tikka T3 Lite 300 WSM - New Vortex Scope

Good day gents,

I've just purchased a Tikka Ts Lite Stainless Steel barrel from a friend for $500 shot about 40 rounds through it. Waiting on a Vortex Diamondback 6X24 - 50mm Ffp optic.
I understand the trigger pull is adjustable down to 2 pounds which is where I like it.

Thinking of a Limbsaver butt pad. I'm a larger guy, have heard there is a bit of a kick (as expected on a 300 WSM) and the First hunt is the 26th of Dec.

You gents think I should add the Limbsaver or shoot first and see.
As I mentioned, I'm a fair-sized guy (6' and 233 lbs.)
A bit of kick is not usually an issue. I'm not thinking a few shots would not leave much soreness.
But I've read a few comments it may.

I would say you will be fine. The Tikkas generally have a decent pad already, nothing like the red pads found on an old Ruger or Winchester.

the tikka t3 but pad is just hard plastic under a thin layer of rubber. I would get a limbsaver for it but you still can shoot it like it is until you get one. The t3x is supposed to have a better but pad.

Ehhh there's not much of a butt pad on my T3 Lite Stainless.. not sure about the T3X. At 6.2 lbs its a fairly light rifle and I would compare the recoil (I have it in 308) to my heavier Ruger M77 in 30-06. So a modest step up in felt recoil I guess. If the transition to a 300WM is the similar I'd say you want the Limbsaver. That being said for a hunting rifle I've never noticed the recoil in the field.

I have the same rifle. Im 6 ft 185 and shoot it stock. Recoil is stout but it shoots awesome. Its a hunting rifle so I don't sweat the recoil. My nose has a whole year to heal! lol.

Limbsaver on the T3 Lite goes a long way and they have a direct fit for them. Dampens the shoulder blow which helps get back on target for a follow-up if needed. It's not always about if you can take the hit to the shoulder; you should think about if you want to.

While you are at it fill the buttstock with poly fill to dampen the hollow sound you get when dragging it on brush.

My thoughts on the limbsaver........

If your shooting from a bench, having fun with it, multiple shots, go for the limbsaver.

Hunting, no limbsaver. The rubbery feel of the limbsaver seems to grab clothing easily, may slow the rifle to shoulder motion.

As stated above, it's a hunting rifle don't sweat the recoil.

Anything to reduce will help you shoot better,screw the macho crap you read on the web . Never met a recoil lover in real life,at least never met one that was a good shot consistently.

Not sure on the slip on kind, but certainly not true for the made to fit Limbsaver's. You don't even know the rifle has one on unless you read the pad or pull the trigger.

Just put a brake on a tikka t3 light 300wm it already had the limbsaver pad on it pushing 210 Berger’s it wasn’t a fun gun to shoot
