Tikka T3 DBM Question

I have a T3 in 260AI. The gun started life as a standard .308. The current DBM is CDI in .308.
My question is has anyone used .300 Win Mag DBM to achieve seating the 260AI bullets longer than standard mag length in .308? If so, how much inletting work can I expect and how much further out can I load from .308 mag? Thanks.

Just a thought but how about a 30-06, .270 mag. May work better as the diameter will match.

Accurate mags will let you get a longer oal over AI mags.

My best load is 2.995 OAL with a Bob Sled Single shot mag. I will test some at the 2.950 length. For a hunting load I am guessing that will probably work fine. Thanks for all the help.

One more question; I have a five round AICS with the binder plate. Is it possible to remove it or better to just purchase the one made without the plate?

I have heard of people drilling the welds and removing the binder plate. I have no first hand experience.

What bullet are you shooting?

I am using 140 Bergers VLD hunting bullets. When I talked to CDI they said they had been having good success with the 300 WM BDM & mags in the T3 308 parent. It would require some minor inletting and change over from my current DBM. I'm right in the middle of hunting season and don't want to go through all that right now. I ordered the extended length mag last night. Will let you know how load testing goes.
