Converting a LA Savage to SA Caliber

I have a Savage LA 270 that uses the fatory LA DBM set up. I just picked up a 308 Win barrel for this gun. Will the standard 308 rounds feed fine in the longer mag?
Anyone have this setup?

I hate to sound over simplistic but load the mag with .308 rounds and see if they feed properly. I’m sure you know not to fire a .308 in a 270 chamber.

Years ago when Savage was trying to get their feet back on the ground, all they had was a long action with an extended front baffle on the bolt.

I feed both 6.5 PRC and 7mm saum out of the 7mm rem mag magazines on a long action but both are between 3.0-3.1 inches long at 2.8 inches it might jump the feed lips before entering the chamber causing a jam.

This is a real good idea, maybe not so much with a 308 as with other short action chamberings. It gives you plenty of room to seat long vld bullets out far enough so as to not use up case capacity.

I would be shocked it it does not work. I swapped barrels on an old Savage 30-06 to a .243 and it fed perfectly from the blind mag.

I have a Savage LA,6.5/284, put a 6 mm creedmoor on it ,it would not feed from magazine

I have all long actions, but all my barrels are short. 308 family and 47L family. I make it a point to load the blind mag with the case base completely to the rear of the magazine.

I found an older used 243 to use as a base instead. Leaving the 270 as is.
