Tikka T1x Barrel switch

Howdy, you are the first person I've seen with an alternate barrel on their t1x. What barrel are you ultimately going to smith onto the action?
Also, Now you have naming rights, rukka or tiger roll off the tongue.
Thanks, e

I am waiting for a reamer so I can chamber and fit a Benchmark barrel. But a friend of mine is going to give me a Lilja 10/22 barrel to put on in the meantime since I do not need to chamber it but rather just lathe the barrel shoulder about 3/4” further back.

I did however in the mean time face off about .020 of the face of the chamber so that I could push the shoulder of the factory barrel up against the face of the action. I also welded a few bumps on the shank and turned them down so the the barrel fits tighter into the action. The rifle shoots really well now. Here are a couple 5 shot groups at 50yards.

very interesting!
does this look easy enough that you think aftermarket barrel companies will start making barrels for the tikka? aftermarket barrels would be a neat option. (in the end it seems like its the high dollar 22 ammo that makes them shoot the best)

i dont know how the barrel mounts on the tikka?? similar to a cz455?

i know lilja makes them for the 455's and sends shims to correct the head space? for some reason barrel companies avoided making them for the 455s. i assume its a head space variance thing...

I talked to Lilja and they said they have no intentions to make prefits for the T1x.

It is the simplest out of all the rimfires. It is just a straight shank. No flats no wedges just straight and they are just held in place by the pressure of the three set screws. So you can actually set your headspace with a set of feeler gauges.

I hate to revive an old thread but has there been any progress on aftermarket barrels for the T1x? For those that have them and are familiar can someone offer pictures and/or advice on making your own aftermarket barrel?

What are the opinions of threading the action so that threaded shouldered barrels could be used or is this a no go given the action configuration?

Anybody have ideas or experience to offer?

Thanks
