Tikka - T1x 20" 22 LR Availability

I've been looking for one in any barrel length with no luck.
Eurooptics will let you backorder one for $529.

Tikka is selling an upraded version in Canada with a much nicer stock that has an adjustable cheek piece. I would think it might be coming to the US?

I have been looking for a Tikka T1 22rf and they don't exist. But have found several CZ Royals and one with the Boyd's adj stock.

Are all the 457 going to be the same action with adjustable trigger and the same quality barrel? Will the CZ perform as well out of the box as the Tikka? They are about $100 more money.

Or , should I cool my heels and wait for a Tikka? OR the Bargara BMR

I'm glad I bought my T1X last summer when they were readily available. It's performed much better than expected. It'll be worth the wait if you decide to hold off for one. If you can't wait, I have no doubt the CZ will perform well. I'm thinking the BMR will be another excellent bang for the buck rifle

I see them on gun broker all the time and the price does not look jacked up to me. I watched a review the other day between the Tikka 22lr and a CZ varmint by a fellow who tested about 6 good grades of ammo. It was pretty in depth. The CZ beat it out by very little over all. He went over the pro,s and cons about each about how he felt about them. Price is close between the 2.

I had the hots for a T1x when they were first announced, but couldn't find one at any of the wholesale/jobber outfits that I usually order from. At that time(March 2019), Lipsey's had plenty of CZ's 457s - with the exception of the MTR, which is what I really wanted - but I went ahead and bought a couple of 457 Americans and a 457 Varmint. I kept the American with the nicest stock for myself, and put the other two up for sale. Even though I was very pleased with the appearance, features, and reliability of the American, accuracy was poor enough so that I decided to order in a Shilen blank and re-barrel it. That done, I believe it'll be a cold day in *ell before I sell it. I did manage to find a Varmint MTR several months later, and accuracy out of its tightly chambered bbl was pretty decent. Next, I bought a 457 Varmint Precision Trainer with the Manners PRS1T stock, but ran into some accuracy issues with that 24" bbl. After I'd put around 500rds through that barrel, accuracy improved a bit - it was actually acceptable at 50yds. But when I tested it at 100 & 200yds, it fell apart - wasn't able to keep 10rds of a good lot of SK LR Match on an 8" steel plate at 200 on a fairly calm day. So out came the credit card, and another Shilen blank was ordered.

I don't know if two out of three OEM bbls giving sub-par accuracy is typical of the hammer forged CZ bbls or not, but I've read a lot of posts on the Tikka T1x here and on RFC & Snipers Hide, and very few owners posted complaints about accuracy. Sure, some of them said it took a few hundred rounds before accuracy came around, but considering how many rounds of SK Std+ & Rifle Match that I put through the two CZ barrels that I replaced before I gave up on them, I seriously doubt they were ever going to improve to the point where I'd have been satisfied with either of them. At this point in time, having a Zermatt Rim-X, three V-22s, and the two 457s with Shilen bbls, I really don't have much interest in buying a Tikka T1x. But even given how impressed & happy I've been with the features, function, accuracy and appearance of my re-barreled CZ 457s, it'd be hard for me to advise a friend to buy one of them vs a Tikka T1x.

I have owned both the Tikka T1X and the CZ 457's....The Tikka shot right with the MTR I had. The Tikka with Center X would average low 3's at 50 yards with a good lot# What you have to remember here is your talking factory rifles and it's a bit of a crap shoot with both although The Tikkas seem to do better overall in my experience.

Mike, WHERE? None in my area, WNY, NWPA I don't seem to be able to do a national search and do they move guns from store to store?

Sportsman's Warehouse, Cabelas, and Bass Pro don't seem to be shipping them. I.e. you can't order online and get delivery. I think I am going to just pull the trigger and go through Eurooptics with a back order.
