Tikka T-3 questions

I've never built on a Tikka before and a good friend wants a 300wsm on a T-3. Is anyone using a Remington type recoil lug or sticking with the factory lug in the stock? From what I've found the tenon is 1" 16tpi or the metric equivalent to it? Also what is the tenon length?

Thanks for the help. I've done hundreds of Remingtons/clones and I can wait until the doner gun shows up to take measurements but he wants to get his stock ordered from McMillan sooner then that if possible so I'm trying to get some info ahead of time.

The last Tikka T3 I built I used a recoil lug similar to the Rem setup, I couldn't find a lug on the market I wanted/liked so I had to make my own. I did machine the receiver face back to accomodate the lug along with that you will be able to run a 1.2" shank barrel. There are photos of this on my FB page www.facebook.com/adarms and I also have all the shank measurements if you would like them.

I've done a few Tikka's this year, I honestly had to be talked into it but after the first one I felt pretty stupid for not getting in on them sooner. Hands down my favorite action for a WSM type build or something that fits the shortness of the longest magazine, I made the decision to maintain the factory style recoil lug but use a steel with devcon, then a full bedding and they've shot very well but I think the real icing on the cake is how smooth they run. After cerakote they feel like their running on air.
Disassembly is easy, tenon is easy, just everything is easy on them, I'm actually going to sell of my a couple other rifles and replace them with Tikka's I like how they function that well!!

Shoot Dusty Stevens a pm. He cuts them back and does a lug. I just inletted 3 stocks for the t3. Cutting for the factory lug is cakewalk.

Holland gunsmithing used to sell a sako lug that should fit the tikka thread diameter.
A good read is a book about rifle accurizing and maintenance from Nathan Foster in New Zealand , with good description of the tikka rifle bedding and maintenance.
