Hi, olsingleshot. I have four rifles in 6,5X55 SM, two of them being the model 96,long barrel), one the model 38,"short" barrel), and one the new Brno,or Ceska)they make with old Mauser '98 actions and new barrels and stocks. All shoot great with the Sierra HPBT 142 grs in front of 39 grs of Tubal 5000. To give just an example, I have five sub-moa targets @100 meters open sights, you see, in Spain we have added this class to bench-rest shooting). The 120 grs Sierra propelled by 39,5 grs of the same powder is just a bit less accurate than the 142, but still plenty good. All this is to show how fond I am of the cartridge.
Last fall I killed a goat with the 120 grs Nosler Ballistic Tip, 39 grs of the same powder, and Norma case from about 120 meters uphill. It fell on its tracks and never moved. Extremely accurate barrel and load, making for a deadly combination. The bullet exited through the off shoulder, but I have shot that load into a line of 5 liter water jugs and found nothing but shrapnel in the third and last one at 100 meters.
I have never had a Tikka, but I own two Sakos in different calibers and I believe anything my Brno can do, the Tikka can duplicate.
Good shots.
