I have a .223 Tikka that extracts but refuses to eject. I've tried every combination of ejector spring and extractor spring and it just won't work. Help- any suggestions welcome.

If the spring loaded plunger is stuck down, drive out the pin that retains it and work it until you can remove it. Polish until it functions and replace. If the plunger is functioning, is the recess for the cartridge head too small? Push a cartridge head into the face of the bolt and make sure it slides in and out easily.

Is your Tikka a left hand gun? Several years ago I got a Tikka 223 LH for shooting in NRA "sporting class" matches. I had all kinds of problems w/ ejection from the first shot. The first problem was very simpl to fix. The brass for some reason would land upside-down in the square opening of the mag to the rear of the cartridge well. I simply filled it in w/ bedding compound. The second problem was that the ejector plunger was on the high side of the bolt lug and was trying to push the brass down against the bolt race way before it swung free of the action. I removed the plunger and filled the hole w/ a piece of tightly fitted spring stock and re-installed the plunger on the lower side of the lug and I have never had another failure to eject and all of the brass is 2 -3 feet from the gun every time. I have never looked at a right handed Tikka so I don't think this will help you there. Good Luck, Joe

I had a similar problem with a Remington model 700 .223. The lot of Winchester brass I was using had a poorly defined rim and the extractor would lose its grip before it would eject. Switched to Lapua brass and it extracts and ejects just fine. Problem isn't fixed but it is an acceptable work around. You may have a similar problem.
I think I'll try that. I had thought of that, but was hoping for something more simple. My older 595 had no problems- except they stopped making them.

I know this is an old thread, but I may have some information on Tikka issues.
I ran a 595 XTC for several years, having it load and eject anything I feed it. However, after a barrel change I started to have some problems with it ejecting, causing a few alibis in rapid strings. I replaced the ejector spring with several different lengths and compressions, did find a size that worked, some of the time. A friend took a look and found that Lapua worked best, as its head diameter is wider than WW, LC, etc.
Not fully satisfied, I turned to the extractor, a Sako design, and wondered although it extracted ok, if the claw had a deep and firm hold on the case. Pulling the bolt back it would just flop back into the well. I took the extractor out, stretched the spring a bit by working a flat blade screwdriver between the coils, and then using a Dremel with a cut off wheel, lightly increased the depth of the claw on the extractor.
IT WORKED, any case now flips out easily and consistently.
