Tikka 595 master sporter.. Wow.

Boy oh boy, this brings back memories. Funny thing….I put that Master Sporter in storage and never shot it until last Friday. I finally decided I deserved it, what the hell!….and no, the 695 has a longer screw center. (That’s from my failing memory. I did one 695 in 338 Win Mag and I’m pretty sure it was a little longer but it’s been 6…7 years.)
Add: I like to confirm my sanity so I did a search and found this:

wealth of information from experienced old hands!

I’m currently working on load development for a 12 twist 223 m595. I’m trying 52-3 grain bullets. W748 test was a flop. My fault. Action screws had loosened up during shipping and I hadn’t checked them. Interesting thing was that I had a good load for my Remington on the bench, so I tried 5 in the Tikka. The 69 grain SMK with H335 shot better than any of the 52 grain bullet loads. 69s “ aren’t supposed to work” in a 12 twist.
what mounts/rings do you like for you m595?

The standard Tikka rings work OK for 1” low power hunting scopes. Most of my guns get a pic rail so I can move my high power scopes around as needed. I’m a big fan of the Burris Extreme rings with the inserts. I have them on all of my big scopes.

Josh, thanks for your input. I am probably going to do a pic rail or a Warne one piece base, cut in two and smoothed out. Warne bases are pretty high quality. The screw spacing fits on each end. I would like to make use of the recoil notch in the receiver.

I assume it has a wood stock? I removed my composite factory stock for my 695 -- if you decide you want to ditch the wood.
